Dana White recalls awkward confrontation with Warriors owner who tried to “open” his Celtics hoodie

Dana White still can’t believe the way the owner of the Golden State Warriors was treated most of the game when he showed up wearing his Celtics gear.

“What a great question. Let me think about this so I can stick with anyone,” said the UFC CEO. “The Katie Miller Podcast” when asked to name a celebrity he met. After saying P Diddy’s name, Dana immediately remembered the incident that was burned into her brain.

“The owner of the Warriors,” White replied. He then went on to recall an incident that happened in San Francisco when the Celtics were in town for a game. Dana, who has deep Boston roots, wore his Celtics gear like any other fan. “So, I put on my Celtics hoodie and we’re sitting there and I don’t remember his name, the owner of the store. [Warriors]. He’s like a majority owner, he and his wife,” White recalled.

The prevailing thought is that White is referring to billionaire venture capitalist Joe Lacob, and his wife, Nicole Curran.

“And they come in and sit a few seats over from us. He comes over to me. He just says, ‘Oh, I heard you’re here or this and that.’ He’s like, ‘Are you serious about that hoodie?’ You know, I get it. Whatever. I think you’re kidding. So, you start trying to take off my hoodie,” Dana told Katie Miller.

“His wife is talking to me, and I think this is all good.”

No. As Dana says, the owner’s wife holds up her hand full of championship rings as she taunts the UFC legend. Still, Dana thought this was a big ego when their NBA teams faced each other.

At halftime, everything changed. Dana says that’s when he found out that its owner had died. Top agent Ari Emanuel, who was on the show with Dana, continued to lean in and break down the news as the two enjoyed the green room during the intermission. Dana would not be allowed back into the courtroom with his hoodie on.

“I said, ‘Well, tell him he can keep his old f–kin’ pretzels and his f–kin’ s–tty beer. I’m going to stay here at halftime. I’m not taking my if–kin’ Celtics hoodie off,'” White concluded before exiting to confront bad P Diddy.

The Golden State Warriors’ communications department did not immediately respond to OutKick’s request for comment about White’s allegations or the organization’s policies regarding fan protests in VIP areas.
