Zendaya Breaks Silence On Euphoria Final After Rue’s Death

In the aftermath of the Sunday, May 31, episode of the hit HBO series, Zendaya, 29, appeared to address the cast and crew on her last day on set, saying, “I want to thank you. I’m so thankful for each and every one of you.”
The actor became emotional after ending Rue’s story.
“Many of you have been here from the beginning and watched me grow,” he continued. “It’s been a pleasure and an honor. Thank you so much.”
The finale ended with the Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) killing Rue after discovering she was working undercover to bring him down. He gave her painkillers laced with fentanyl – and she ended up overdosing halfway through the episode.
Ali (Colman Domingo) found Rue dead on her couch and the rest of the episode followed her mission to get revenge on the Alamo. The last episode of the show was Ali at the farm that Rue spent time at in the season 3 premiere where she said a favor at the dinner table in her honor.
Elsewhere in the category, the creator Sam Levinson defended the decision to kill Rue.

“Zendaya’s performance has been so beautiful and unique throughout these seasons. We fell in love with this character – this girl who was flawed and f**ked but with a good heart,” he said. “It’s a blessing to work with talented people and people you love.”
Levinson noted that the show was always building up to Rue’s death, and added, “Ultimately, I wanted to tell an honest story about addiction.”
The screenwriter called the ending “a sincere ending.”
“The honest conclusion is that people like Rue don’t make it,” he told the camera before saying Angus CloudJuly 2025 death following accidental overdose. “People are going crazy again. They’re not ready to get clean. And they weren’t dying like they are now with the fentanyl influx in this country.”
Levinson continued: “I can say with certainty that if I had gone through what I went through when I was young, I wouldn’t be here now.”
