(Mikayla and Jace confirmed Mormon wives season 4 that they were separated. The two, who share four children, have since spent time together as a family in California in April.)
“Gotta love the biased double standard 🙃 I’d really like to see how you manage to be in this position,” Mikayla replied. “If you feel entitled to comment on our lives, don’t be surprised when we respond. I’m not one to change my opinions just to save face on the internet.”

Days later, Mikayla expanded the conversation with a statement on Instagram Story explaining that she “tried to stay as removed” as possible from Taylor’s legal battle with her ex. Dakota Mortensen. (Taylor temporarily lost custody of her son Ever, 2, after a domestic violence incident between the two. Local police declined to press charges. She is also mother to daughter Indy, 8, and son Ocean, 5, with her ex-husband. Father Paul.)

Taylor Frankie Paul’s Mother’s Day Message
Taylor made headlines on May 10 when she shared a direct Mother’s Day message without identifying Mikayla by name.
“It’s Mother’s Day so I’m going to say whatever I want,” Taylor began. “As if it’s not the worst time [sic] STILL the ‘friends’ who are kicking me while I’m still on the ground call me ‘setting a boundary’ and I’m not getting angry and responding. That is called a shame and an attack while I was still breathing and he knew it.”
He continued, “I have never once.” [I] “I call myself a ‘victim’ but I AM HUMAN and I have broken points,” Taylor wrote on Sunday.
Taylor continued to refer to his arrest in 2023. (The arrest occurred after the incident with Dakota. Taylor was eventually charged with aggravated assault, two counts of domestic violence involving a child, child abuse with injury and criminal mischief after the incident. He eventually pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, while the other four charges were dismissed with prejudice and he later reached a plea deal.)
“Did you see the crime? Did you see the bruises?” Taylor continued. “But you grow the ‘sides?’ Of course you usually do it for friends you know are going through that. Have you been injured during pregnancy? Have you ever been hit after giving birth? You lost two children because you know what? Have you ever gone to jail because you finally broke and only took one charge for years? Have you ever had trouble getting ready to feel good two months after giving birth that you cry about grooming and then go back to the ugly shirt? Do you understand what I am saying just mentally?”
He continued, “No, obviously not. [I’m] take it down and shut it down with a ‘boundary’ months later after the fact… you’re right to say his ‘boundary’ for sure… but go ahead and tell them the truth.”
Taylor, who did not give Mikayla’s name, asked who her “last conversation” was “regarding this situation” and noted that “it wasn’t me.” Taylor also appeared to address “concerns” about her recording Mormon wives season 5. (The series halted production amid allegations of his feud with Dakota. Us Weekly confirmed last month that filming has resumed, but Taylor has yet to appear on camera.)
“What other questions did you have about your concerns while you were filming with me… ‘Are you making more than us? Keep up the ‘babysitting act,'” Taylor wrote. “Everybody knows I’m good with my kids. I’ve missed more events, girls’ nights and opportunities to stay home with my kids than others can say.”
She concluded by saying, “I am a happy mother to all the mothers out there. Yes, I mumble… people calling me but I can’t answer? I will definitely NOT tolerate that again. Thank GOD for the people you sent to help me face my enemies so close.”
