Award winning artist John Mayer appears to be addressing the political turmoil in the United States while defending his 2006 hit, “Waiting on the World to Change.”
“If your car breaks down, or let’s say you’re locked out of your car, and someone comes up to you and says, ‘Why don’t you get in your car, what are you doing right now?’ Again [you reply]”I’m waiting for AAA,” Mayer, 48, said while performing at HISTORYTalks in Philadelphia on April 17, according to a Saturday, April 25, report. “Sometimes there are people who say, ‘Why don’t you just smash the window and open it in the middle of the car?’ Some people go, ‘Just wait for your roadside assistance,'” Mayer reportedly continued. “Considering, now, I wrote that song 20 years ago. AAA never showed up.”

After an audience member requested that Mayer perform his 2006 hit, the singer admitted he received criticism for the “do-nothing” song.
