Simon Cowell’s fiancee, Lauren Silverman, reflects on what it was like to find out she was pregnant with their child, still married to someone else, and the media storm that followed.
In a recent interview on “Happy Mum: The Podcast,” the 48-year-old opened up about the end of her marriage to businessman Andrew Silverman, and finding out she was pregnant with Cowell’s son, Eric, 12, while still married to him.
“There are a lot of emotions associated with that, because my marriage was over, obviously,” he explained. “It was one of the most difficult moments in my life, because – I don’t want to say that I regret it, because I don’t regret anything – I wish it had happened differently …
Cowell and Silverman went public with their relationship in 2013 after news broke that she was pregnant with his child. News of their relationship and pregnancy sparked a firestorm, with her husband filing for divorce after news of her pregnancy surfaced.

She went on to say that she wishes she could “go back and take away the pain and take away the pain” her actions caused her ex-husband and their son, Adam.
The scandal was widely covered by the media, with Silverman now explaining that it made it difficult for her to enjoy her pregnancy, saying that her “most important thing” was to keep Adam safe and secure.
“I’ve been fighting or flight. I’ve been trying to get through it and try to get up every day and not, I don’t know, fall because it’s been so intense,” she said. “Everywhere I went … it was just the way people looked at me. I was on the cover of every magazine and there were stories about it … it was terrible.”
Despite the setback, Silverman remembers knowing that “Simon was the person I wanted to spend my life with” and that “however we got there, I believed it was meant to be.”

Silverman acknowledged that people feel a certain way about him and admitted that he “doesn’t blame them” and would “think the same way” if he were in their position.
“I felt like, ‘Okay, it’s done. I’m a big girl,'” she said. “I have to absorb it and get on with it. And whatever comes my way, I’ll take it and keep my head down.” That’s what I did for a really long time. “
Twelve years later, Silverman says he has “made a career for myself” and has “forgiven himself” for his past mistakes.
“I did whatever I felt I had to do to come to terms with this situation,” he said. “So now I feel like whatever I put out there and whatever people say or think, it’s too bad. I don’t really care anymore.”

Their son was born in February 2014, and the two have been together since the scandal broke, with Silverman saying that becoming a father has “completely changed his life.”
Cowell told “The Diary Of A CEO” podcast in June 2024 that his son “saved” him after he found himself in “a very bad situation.”
“When I get the call from Lauren, the one that starts, any phone that starts with, ‘Are you sitting down?’ You know what’s next. It was like, ‘Are you sitting down?’ ‘Yes,’ ‘Yes,’ and he told me. And, yes, it completely changed, changed everything in my life. It made me happy again.”
When asked if his son “saved him,” Cowell said, “Without a question, without a question. Really, I had reached a point where nothing mattered. Even when I almost couldn’t remember everything from that moment.”
