The Philadelphia Flyers cruised to a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 3 on Wednesday night to take a 3-0 series lead, but there was a lot to talk about, including Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby’s first decorative penalty.
…No, you read that right.
Coming into the game, Crosby had played 21 seasons in the NHL and had never received a game to be decorated, until there was a strange sequence between the whistles.

Flyers forward (and top-tier agitator, it must be said) Garnet Hathaway skated between Crosby and the line before tackling the Flyers’ defense and, let’s just say, “Reckless” with his boards.

I mean… you sold it short, Sid.
Now in the case of Rust? The Flyers were lucky.

But after the most talked about dive since the days of Greg Louganis. During the broadcast, it was revealed that this was Crosby’s first ever decorum penalty. Fortunatley, I wasn’t drinking anything when I heard this because I would have choked.
For 21 of my 30 years on this glorious space marble we call Earth, I’ve been obsessed with Sidney Crosby, and a big part of that was his penchant for diving and crying.
Now, he’s older than that, but it was a known fact that f

While the Penguins were unhappy officiating – and I think they were legitimately to blame for that Rust incident – they can’t get hung up on these 3-0 things.
The Flyers have been the strongest team throughout the series, which is why they have their opponents on the ropes heading into Saturday night’s Game 4 in Philadelphia.
