Mother Says She Is Open To Admitting She Killed Her 3 Children

Mother from Massachusetts Lindsay Clancy he said he is ready to admit that he killed his three children in 2023 as his murder trial approaches.

Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddingtonhe said he was “willing to plead guilty to killing the children” if the judge agreed to a bifurcated trial, according to WCVB.

The motion went on to say that because of the admission, “the only issue to be considered at trial will be the state of mind of the defendant as it relates to the defense of criminal innocence.”

The filing of the new plea comes after the judge previously rejected another plea from the defense, asking that the trial be split into two separate cases.

Reddington asked the judge for one trial to determine if his client is guilty, and a second trial to determine if he is guilty of murder.

The attorney announced in December 2025 that the attorney intended to seek an insanity defense, saying Clancy had postpartum psychosis when she asked her husband, Patrick Clancyto take them to dinner on January 24, 2023.

When Patrick returned home 25 minutes later, he found that his wife had climbed out of the window from the second floor of their home.

While calling 911, Patrick discovered that their three children were all strangled when he found exercise bands tied around their necks.

The couple’s two eldest – Cora, 5, and Dawson, 3 – were taken to hospital and pronounced dead shortly afterwards. Meanwhile, their youngest child, Callan, aged 8 months, died a few days later.

The former attorney noted that Clancy had been prescribed 15 medications in the past month in response to postpartum depression.

However, prosecutors argued that they believed Clancy carefully planned and orchestrated the murders of her three children while sending her husband to pick up food.

Clancy is scheduled to undergo a formal psychiatric evaluation this week, which comes after Reddington told the court his client plans to plead not guilty by reason of insanity in the case.

He is next expected to appear in court on April 23 for his trial. Meanwhile, the trial is scheduled to begin on July 20 after being postponed from the original date of February.
