Joe Manganiello Weighs In On ‘Near-Death’ Health Fight In Book

The book, which will be released on October 13, is described as a “thrilling memoir” detailing Manganiello’s “numerous near-death experiences and health issues.”

The ordeal “prompted her on an incredible journey into healing and searching the world, which revealed answers about her ancestors, inherited trauma, and the deep history we have,” according to the book’s official description.

According to publisher Simon & Schuster, “Manganiello’s body began to seduce him” without warning. The actor suffered from “attacks of autoimmune diseases,” which led to years of constant pain.

Throughout the “prolonged battle for survival,” doctors “had few answers and no clear explanation.” A description of the letter reveals that Manganiello “had a life-saving amputation” throughout his health battle. However, other details were not revealed.

After trying conventional treatments, Manganiello ended up on an “unconventional path,” seeking help from shamans, pagan traditions, ancient legends and long-lost family records, which led to a “rebirth of his spirituality.”

The Magic Mike alum’s search “led him deep into his bloodline: to survivors of the Armenian genocide, to ancestors shaped by violence and displacement, and to hidden patterns shared by others living with chronic illnesses,” the description continues.

The bloodlines are “more than a reminder of a medical problem,” the caption explains. It’s an investigative story about what happens when the life you’ve built can no longer contain the reality of what you’re holding.”

Manganiello will explore “illness, legacy, masculinity, faith, ambition, and the character we build to endure,” in the book.

“Bloodlines looks at how the past lives on in the body and in the stories we tell about strength, survival, and independence,” the synopsis concludes. “The result is a transformative, touching story spanning many years and an important meditation on legacy, loss, and the work of life and what remains.”
