Hello friends! Let’s talk about something near and dear to my heart: coffee.

As an Integrative Health Practitioner, I am particular about what I put into my body and that includes my morning cup of happiness. So when I stumbled upon Danger Coffee at Dave Asprey’s Biohacking Conference (they had it all over the place), I knew I had to give it a try and report back.

I’ve been drinking the decaf version every day for almost two years now, and I’m sharing everything: taste, ingredients, price, and whether it’s worth it for health-conscious coffee lovers like us.

What is Danger Coffee?

Danger Coffee is a premium, recycled coffee created by Dave Asprey – the same guy behind Bulletproof Coffee. Founded in 2022, it is made up of three elements that make it truly unique to your bean bag:

1. It is renewable. Using a patent-pending process, each batch is infused with 50+ trace minerals and electrolytes with humic and fulvic acids. As an IHP, I love this. Most of us are depleted of minerals in the modern diet, and getting them in your morning coffee is a smart delivery method.

2. Checked for mold. Mycotoxins (fungal compounds that are heavy when roasted and brewed) are a real problem in regular coffee and can contribute to brain fog, fatigue, and inflammation. Danger Coffee is tested in several stages to ensure its purity. This is a big problem if you’ve ever noticed that certain coffees make you feel like…

3. The beans are specialty-grade and single-origin. Sourced from small family farms in Central America using regenerative farming methods, it meets the Specialty Coffee Association’s quality standards and is freshly roasted to order. No mystery beans here!

Danger Coffee Product Line

The program is deliberately simple, which I appreciate.

No decision fatigue:

Medium Dark Roast: Balanced, smooth, nutty with hints of cocoa. It works well with dripping, French pressing, or pouring over the top. Whole beans or ground are available.

Black Roast: Bright and full-bodied with notes of baker’s chocolate, nougat, and smoky oak. Great if you like a really strong mug or want to use it for a cold drink.

Medium Dark Decaf : This is my daily pick, and it’s one of the best decaf I’ve ever had. (Most decaf tastes like sad brown water. This doesn’t.)

Immediate danger: It is slowly brewed for 72 hours, then dried. No weird fillers. The pilot loves this to travel because it tastes amazing.

Pods Built: Single-serve, zero plastic microplastics. A great option if you are a pod person and care about the environment.

How does it taste? My Personal Information

Full disclosure: I drink the decaf version because caffeine and my anxiety have a complicated relationship. So if you’re in the decaf camp, hello, welcome, this review is especially for you. Many reviews of Danger Coffee only include caffeinated roasts and we deserve better.

Decaf is smooth, rich, and really dark. It doesn’t have that flat, papery quality that mars most decafs. There is a small world from minerals, but subtlety; not funky. I also notice a mild lift which I think comes from the minerals themselves, which is cool.

My money saving hack: I mix it 50/50 with Whole Foods organic decaf. You still get the mineral benefits, the flavor holds up well, and each bag lasts twice as long. It’s still cheaper in the world than the daily routine of a coffee shop!

Caffeinated roast: reviewers consistently report a clean, continuous boost of energy without jitters or crashes. The mold-free processing is probably the biggest reason why the strength feels different than regular coffee.

Danger Coffee Advantages and Disadvantages

Benefits

Remineralization is a real, functional benefit. Fulvic and humic acids support mineral absorption, gut health, hydration, and cellular energy. Getting this with your morning coffee instead of a different supplement? I subscribed to upppp.

Checking for mold is actually important. If you’ve ever felt lethargic, foggy, or buzzed after coffee it shouldn’t affect you that way; may be mycotoxins. Having a product that tests rigorously is HUGE.

The taste is unique. No bitterness, smooth finish, high quality clear beans. It earns its stripes as a specialty coffee even without the active health angle.

Decaf is officially one of the best on the market. I cannot stress this enough. Good decaf is rare. This is not thinking.

Great for Bulletproof style coffee. When you combine yours with grass-fed butter and MCT oil, the mineral profile supports that fat-fueled morning routine really well.

Evil

The price is realistic. About $26–$31 for a 12–16 oz bag, premium product. That said, if you’re already spending money on bones, organic foods, and clean products, the price per cup makes perfect sense (especially with the discount code and my hack

It’s online only. You can’t just grab it at the store when you run out. Plan ahead, friends!

A variety of limited frying. The system is deliberately rigid. If you like to check out a rotating batch of single-origin roasts, this might not scratch that itch.

Price Breakdown & Saving Method

Who Is Dangerous Coffee Good For?

It is a good fit if:

  • You’ve already prioritized clean eating, supplements, or biohacking
  • Get jittery, anxious, or distracted with regular coffee
  • Suspicious mold or low-quality beans affect how you feel
  • Drink decaf and you’re tired of bad choices (same, friend, same)
  • You want to add functional benefits to the culture you already have

It’s probably not for you if:

  • You just want cheap, effective caffeine and you don’t care about quality
  • He loves testing tons of different roasting profiles
  • Budget is your main filter right now – no shame in that!

Boiling Method

Pouring (my method): I use this pour maker. Clean your filter, use about 20-22g of ground coffee per 12 oz of water, brew with a small splash of hot water for 30 seconds, then pour the rest in a slow swirl. Total brewing time: about 2.5-3 minutes.

French press: Use a solid grind. Add 30g of coffee to 16 oz of water at about 200°F, steep for 4 minutes, then press lightly.

A few quick tips:

  • Store beans in an airtight container in a cool, dark place (not in the fridge – condensation and odours)
  • I drink my coffee after breakfast rather than first thing in the morning on an empty stomach – it’s easier on digestion and helps avoid afternoon energy dips

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Danger Coffee worth the price? If you care about pure ingredients and performance benefits – yes. Fungal testing, mineral processing, and specialty beans all justify a fee, especially with a discount code.

Does Danger Coffee have a decaf option? Yes! Medium Dark Decaf uses the Swiss Water Process to remove 99.9% of the caffeine without chemical solvents. It’s really good.

What is the difference between Danger Coffee and Bulletproof Coffee? Both are Dave Asprey’s creations that focus on mold-free beans. Danger Coffee takes it a step further with a proprietary remineralization process – 50+ trace minerals and electrolytes in every cup.

Can you taste the minerals? Most people pay little attention to soil quality, but it is subtle. It tastes like really good coffee, not like you’re drinking a supplement. It’s a promise.

Is it organic? It is not certified organic, but the beans are grown naturally without synthetic pesticides and are third-party tested for purity. In some ways, the level of testing goes beyond what is guaranteed by organic certification alone.

How do I save money on it? The code FITNESSISTA with 10% off + subscriptions + 50/50 combo hack = the most affordable way to enjoy it every day.

Danger Coffee has definitely earned a permanent place in my morning routine. The decaf is unique, the mineral support is effective and evidence-based, and the fungus test gives me real peace of mind. Is it the cheapest option out there? No. But it’s one of the few products where premium pricing maps to real, tangible improvements: in quality, how I feel, and what I’m not putting into my body.
