Austin Metcalf’s Twin Talks With Carmelo Anthony On Court

After the youth of Texas Carmelo Anthony found guilty of murdering his high school classmate Austin Metcalf at the song meeting, the deceased’s twin spoke directly to the murderer of his sibling in court.
Anthony, 19, was sentenced to 35 years in prison during a hearing on Tuesday, June 9. After his sentence was announced, Metcalf’s twin brother, Hunter Metcalfshared a powerful message with Anthony during a victim impact statement.
“You took a son, a brother, a friend, and my best friend, from this world. You took someone from me who was supposed to be an uncle, a godfather to my children,” Hunter, 18, said emotionally, according to CBS Texas. “Now I want everything taken from you.”
He continued, “Eventually your name will be forgotten, but my brother’s memory will always be there.”
Anthony was found guilty of murdering Austin at the age of 17 before serving his sentence.
The fatal incident occurred at a high school track meet in April 2025. Police say Anthony, also 17 at the time, attacked Austin after the victim asked him to get out from under a tent set up for his track team at the track meet.
A witness told authorities that Anthony responded by pulling a knife from his bag and saying, “Touch me and see what happens.”
It is said that Austin then touched Anthony and tried to shake him, which is when Anthony took out a knife and stabbed him in the chest.
Anthony spoke to the officer and admitted that he stabbed him, although he insisted throughout the trial that it was all in self-defense.
Not only did Hunter speak during the hearing, but Austin’s parents both spoke as well.
“We’ve been robbed!” Austin’s father, Jeff Metcalfhe told Anthony before ordering his son’s killer to look him in the eye. “Don’t look down!”
Jeff continued, “You failed your parents, you failed yourself, and you failed society…
Austin’s mother, Meghan Metcalfhe also spoke to Anthony and said that he should “feel lucky” that he was only sentenced to 35 years in prison because “he was sentenced to life in prison without my son.”
Meghan went on to call Austin a “peacemaker” and “protector” before recalling the last morning she spent with her son before his death.
“There’s a part of him that you can never take away from me, the strength that I still get from him every day, because I know what it was like to be loved by him,” Meghan said. “My son was killed, he didn’t just die, he was taken from us when he was just starting to live.”
