Kristi Noem was fired after the Department of Homeland Security secretary’s hiring scandal

We can now openly admit what has been happening before our eyes all year: that Kristi Noem was a total, complete, utter disaster, her tenure at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) little more than a self-promotional war.
He’s been unfit for the job since day one, and especially in the face of ICE’s outrageous overreach and FEMA’s frustrating failures.
President Donald Trump’s decision to impeach him, which took too long, frees many Republicans to admit what many in the media, including myself, as well as Democrats and outside critics, have been saying: Noem was a slow-moving train wreck.
The former governor of South Dakota had no experience in matters of national security, and that was painfully evident.
This woman is determined to portray the image of a strong cowgirl who, when writing history, bragged that she shot her dog because she hated the pet. Talk about a self-inflicted wound.
This is the woman who trashed two American citizens who were brutally murdered by ICE for calling them domestic terrorists, and sometimes a prosecutor. And he refused to take it back.
The correct answer was simple: This is terrible, we feel bad for the family, we are investigating, and I will report back when we have more information. How hard is that?

In the case of Renee Good, who was shot dead after dropping her child off at school, there was no investigation. Noem simply declared that the ICE agent did well, and that was that.
Noem is also responsible for ICE’s aggressive approach to Minneapolis, which has resulted in innocent Americans being removed from their cars and homes. Agents have a tough job to do, but many are hired after ICE cuts training for new hires. He and the agency lied about that.
The continued missteps turned the public against ICE until Trump had to bring in border governor Tom Homan to try to salvage the situation.

Noem also fueled confusion at FEMA. By insisting that he approve the entire contract or award more than $100,000, he created a backlog where people in disaster areas waited months and months and did not receive their money. Some Republicans complained about this after taking heat from their members.
During that time, DHS spent millions on advertisements promoting the manager, not to mention the private jet that used to transport him.
He photographed in El Salvador’s infamous prison, with the naked inmates behind him having changed into high-end clothes, wearing a $50,000 gold Rolex watch.

He put himself on a horse on Mount Rushmore to promote that gunshot image. Some agents call her “ICE Barbie.”
Noem was terrible at the trial, defensive and unprepared, as the lawmen hammered him. He even speculated about his relationship with his special civil servant, Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s first campaign manager, although both dismissed the rumours.
But the thin ice didn’t break until he told a blatant lie about the president.
HOUSE DEMOCRATS HOLD ‘SHADOW HEARING’ AS THEY BUILD CASE TO FIND KRISTI NOEM
Under heavy questioning from Republican Senator John Kennedy, he said Trump had approved a $220 million advertising contract with him as a top performer. Even someone with a rusty political record can see that Trump was the star of the show.
Only four companies were deemed eligible to bid for this contract. And the award went to a company that didn’t exist eight days earlier. It didn’t have a website. It had no recognized office. It had never worked for the government.
This company was created for the sole purpose of winning this lucrative amount of federal funds.
What the company did have was strong political connections with Noem. As revealed by Pro Publica, this Delaware property, Strategy Group, has played a major role in Noem’s 2022 campaign for governor.
When Kennedy let you know that Trump had called him and called BS on his account, anyone with 10 minutes of knowledge in Washington could tell that Noem was toast.

The president was so enraged that he fired him and put him in a job that didn’t exist before, as a special envoy for the new Western Hemisphere security system. It’s not really a golden parachute.
Trump, referring to the radioactive contract, told NBC News: “I wasn’t happy about it. I spent less money than I did for president. I didn’t know about it.”
The presidential candidate, Sen. Markwayne Mullin, of Oklahoma, is widely regarded as the most conservative option with aggressive views on deportation. He was on high terms with reporters, saying that he and Noem were friends and that he was doing his best under difficult circumstances.

It’s not uncommon for a cabinet to have a few clunkers. For Trump, who fired senior officials left and right during his first term, this was the first Cabinet firing of his current position, and it came while he was at war with Iran.
The president was incredibly patient with Noem, but he did a lot of damage to him, the administration and the country on his signature immigration issue.
Almost no one protects him, except for close family and friends. The need to pretend is gone.
