If you’re looking for some fun things to watch in May, the most exciting options aren’t airing in the same place.

Our picks include a survival thriller and three crime thrillers that are increasingly serious about their subject matter.
4. ‘The Beast’ (2022)

There’s nothing like a family trip to bring people together, at least that’s what Dr. Nate Samuels (Idris Elba) was hopeful as he dragged his daughters, Meredith (It’s Halley) and Norah (Leah Sava Jeffries), to Africa to reconnect with their late mother’s roots and meet a family friend, Martin Battles (Sharlto Copley).
In a major time malfunction, Nate and his daughters come across a lion killing people at Martin’s zoo. This creature is vicious and cunning, and Nate must find a way to defeat it, or there will be no one left to bury him or his family when the lion roars.

3. ‘Highest 2 Lowest’ (2025)

Director Spike Lee again Denzel Washington we meet again in a crime thriller Highest 2 Lowestwhich was briefly released theatrically last year. Washington plays David King, one of the founders of Stackin’ Hits Records and an icon in the industry. King has sold most of his possessions over the years, but is currently liquidating most of his possessions to restore them. But on the day he was to complete the deal, the kidnappers targeted his son, Trey (Aubrey Joseph). and search for a ransom that can break the King’s dream to restore his company.
The good thing is that the kidnappers made a mistake. Instead of Trey, they took his best friend, Kyle Christopher (Elijah Wright), who is also the son of King’s driver and friend, Paul Christopher (Jeffrey Wright). The thieves are still demanding their million-dollar ransom, but King suddenly doesn’t feel obligated to pay. That doubt could cost King more than money.

2. ‘Caught Stealing’ (2025)

Darren Aronofskylatest movie, Caught Stealingit doubles as a dark comedy and a crime thriller. But Hank Thompson (Austin Butler) does not laugh at all the misery that comes into his life because of his neighbor, Russ Miner (Matt Smith). The only thing Hank agreed to do was take care of Russ’s cat while he was out of town. Unfortunately for Hank, that made him the pirates who come looking for Russia.
Hank and his girlfriend, Yvonne (Zoë Kravitz), they don’t realize the world of pain they’re in for, or the high price they’ll pay as it becomes clear why everyone in the criminal underworld is after Russ. There’s a lot of money at stake, and Hank may not have anyone to trust, especially when even the corrupt cop, Detective Elise Roman (Regina King), and looking for Russ’s stash.

1. ‘Crime 101’ (2026)

Crime 101 features Chris Hemsworth as Mike, a special jewel thief who carefully plans his crimes to ensure that no one gets hurt while giving himself a clean getaway. However, Mike’s recent theft has been so bad that he is reeling and is not willing to continue the robbery. That leads to his fence, Money (Nick Nole), to go after Mike and hire a psychopath, Ormon (Barry Keoghan), to finish Mike’s job.
As Mike tries to form a romantic relationship with a woman named Maya (Monica Barbaro), the tireless cop, Detective Lou Lubesnick (Mark Ruffalo), approaching him. Meanwhile, insurance broker, Sharon Combs (Halle Berry), is drawn into Mike’s path because he needs his help. But there is no guarantee that they can trust each other.
