Yellowstone Spinoff 6666’s Future Is Explained Amid Delays

Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone The universe continues to grow – but what happened to the planned spinoff 6666?

The popular franchise, which premiered in 2018, introduces viewers to the fictional Dutton family, who own a large ranch in Montana. While some viewers came to see Kevin Costner’s portrayal of family patriarch John Dutton – and stayed for the show’s other stars, including Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Gil Birmingham again Cole Hauser – others are attracted by amazing story lines and surprising twists.

Sheridan has expanded her TV horizons with reality shows including Landman, Mayor of Kingstown, lion again Tulsa King. He also gave prequel shows YellowstoneI started with 1883 and later 1923.

Before the flagship Yellowstone series ended, president of ViacomCBS Chris McCarthy confirmed in 2023 that there is another spinoff Matthew McConaughey he was at work. A year later, however, the McConaughey spinoff appeared dead and was replaced by a separate show titled Madison.

Michelle Pfeiffer stars in the upcoming series in tandem Patrick J. Adams, Matthew Fox again Kevin Zegers. Another series, Y: Marshals, aired on CBS and follows Kayce Dutton (Grimes) as she leaves a Yellowstone ranch to join the US Marshals.

Others Yellowstone fans, however, are waiting for what has been teased before 6666 spinoff, which was set to follow Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White) during his time at the Four Sixes ranch in Texas.

“Established when the Comanches ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more steeped in Western history than 6666,” says the series’ official description. “Still working as it did two centuries ago, and covering an entire region, 6666 is where law and nature meet in a place where the most dangerous thing a person does is the next thing. … 6666 is like a ruthless effort to breed the best horses and livestock in the world, and it’s ultimately done by the little guys in the world.”

Unfortunately, the latest update about 6666 came in 2022 when it was announced that the show would air on the Paramount Network instead of Paramount+. As there have been many recent updates about the Beth and Rip series and a possible prequel with the title 1944fans took the public silence about the 6666 as a sign that production would not go forward. (Sheridan bought the original Four Sixes in 2021.)

Director of Yellowstone Christina Vorosyet, you have been told before TV Insider that working with Sheridan meant potentially long layoffs between projects.

“We don’t know until we get the scripts what the story is. And when it’s time to tell the story, there will be a script in my inbox,” he said in an interview in 2024 about Yellowstone series finale. “And I’ll be more than happy to sit down.”

He continued: “I honestly don’t know how Taylor chooses to tell what stories she chooses to tell when [about 6666 and 1944]. I think he has closed a lot of doors in Yellowstone this season. It is obvious that there are actors that we will not see again because they have been sent. But I think you’ve left some doors open, and there are doors I can’t tell if they’re locked or not. But we will know when we fall to them.”
