Where Full House Stands with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

I Full house cast to form a strong connection Mary-Kate Olsen again Ashley Olsen shortly after the twins first appeared on the hit sitcom at 6 months old.
Mary-Kate and Ashley starred in the popular series from 1987 to 1995. The show followed Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) while struggling to raise her three daughters — DJ (Candace Cameron Bure), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and Michelle (Mary-Kate and Ashley) – after the unexpected death of his wife.
In the midst of his grief, Danny’s brother-in-law, Jesse Katsopolis (John Stamos) and best friend Joey (Dave Coulier) came in and helped him raise the girls.
When Full House premiered, Mary-Kate and Ashley were children. By the time the show ended, the pair were 8 years old. Following the show’s finale, the Olsen twins continued to perform well into their teens before stepping out of the Hollywood spotlight to focus on their fashion careers.
In 2015, Full House was renewed with its own spinoff series Fuller Housestarring Cameron Bure and Sweetin’ characters as adults. Most of the Full house cast returned for a cameo in the new series – the only exceptions being Mary-Kate and Ashley.
Despite not returning to the new show, Mary-Kate and Ashley remain on good terms with their former customers. The sisters reunited with the cast at Saget’s funeral following his death in January 2022.

John Stamos
After Mary-Kate and Ashley didn’t come back Fuller House Cameo, Stamos is upset by the twins’ decision.
“When I did Fuller House, they didn’t want to come back and I was upset the minute that came out,” the actress admitted during the May 2023 episode of the “And That’s What You REALLY Missed” podcast.
However, Stamos’ feelings changed after he reconnected with the twins following Saget’s death.
“They said, ‘We loved you guys, we loved our childhood. We loved being with you. We miss Bob.’ They came to my house and brought me pork and saag,” he recalled.
Dave Coulier
Coulier shared that it was “amazing” to see Mary-Kate and Ashley, even under such dire circumstances.
“When we saw them at Bob’s funeral and his memorial, it was so sweet,” he said in a September 2024 interview with the New York Post. “That’s the only name I can think of. It was great to see Mary-Kate and Ashley.”
Coulier added that he had a great time working with the two.
“I went and sat there and started playing, and all of a sudden, Mary-Kate came and sat next to me, and all of a sudden, Ashley sat next to me,” he recalls. “And the three of us were in there just laughing and being kids.
Jodie Sweetin
During the April 2026 episode of the “McBride Rewind” podcast, Sweetin revealed that she hadn’t really spoken to Mary-Kate or Ashley since Full House ended.
“We haven’t talked. I think after Full House grew and grew and everything, they had a very different path than everyone else,” he explained. “People say, ‘Well, you don’t talk, is it bad?’ No, they were 8 when the show ended, [and] we were not as close as we are. I didn’t see them all the time.”
Sweetin added that nothing happened between him and the twins instead their lives became busy.
“It wasn’t like there was bad blood between us, but they moved to New York and got married again [built their] fashion and we moved into that world,” he shared.
The Hallmark actor also noted that both Mary-Kate and Ashley are “very protective” of their privacy and that the first time the entire cast met was at Saget’s funeral.
“When Bob passed, it was the first time we were all together in a long time,” he said. “Bob would see them in New York, and I’d seen them in L.A. It wasn’t bad blood, but it was the first time we were all really together. It was like it was before. It was normal. We all spent four days together after Bob passed, and it was like nothing had changed.
Two months later, Sweetin gave an update on the actors’ interactions with Mary-Kate and Ashley
“Everybody gets along with them,” he explained in the June 2026 episode Taboo‘s “Jokes and Kicks” podcast. But they were 8 years old when the show ended. And then they made all those movies and all those things that I don’t know that they really liked to do all the time.
Sweetin added that for Mary-Kate and Ashley, acting is “not their thing.”
“They have a different relationship than they always have,” he recalled. “They may not remember when they were 2 years old and we’re all carrying them and doing these things, but I do.”
