Howie Mandel ‘Kinda’ Regrets Apologizing to Kelly Ripa

How are you Mandel? admitted that he had mixed feelings about the apology Kelly Ripa after their unusual interview Stay with Kelly and Mark.
“If someone is angry [or] if anyone feels like I made a mistake, I’m sorry,” Mandel said on the Tuesday, March 31, episode of the “Hot Mics with Billy Bush” podcast. “I don’t believe in apologies but, as I said in my post, I regret doing this, I don’t think you should apologize for a joke.”
The game started on March 23 when Mandel was interviewed by Ripa, 55, and her husband, Mark Consuelosto Live. Ripa revealed that Mandel recently celebrated her 70th birthday, before joking that her age “makes no sense.”
When Consuelos interjected that Mandel looked “beautiful,” the comedian responded, “I [do] look at the good. That means nothing to me.”

“Because you tell someone you’re 70 years old and they go, ‘You look great,'” he added.
Ripa tried to clarify that she wasn’t trying to say Mandel looked “70 years old,” before interrupting to say, “It’s like saying you’re smart to a stupid person. ‘Oh, you look smart! You look smart!’ I don’t look good.”
Mandel added later in the interview, “Well, actually, before we go out, there’s, like a mirror back there. … The truth, now, I’m going to be serious for a minute: I’m beautiful. I am.
“You’re a good thing,” Ripa joked.

“I’ve been debating for 48 hours whether or not I should make this post, and I don’t know if I’m doing the right thing,” he said via Instagram on Saturday, March 28. “Philosophically, I don’t believe that a comedian needs to apologize for a joke. It’s a joke, it’s meant as a joke, not to be laughed at.”
Mandel stated, “You’re not going to like it and, in all my years in the business, I’ve never apologized publicly [a joke].”
