The New Star Wars Movie Just Made History in the Worst Way Possible

It was originally intended for Disney The Mandalorian and the Grogu to make it a crowd-pleasing film that will bring fans together. After all, this was the first Star Wars movie since 2019, and it brings the franchise’s most popular characters from Disney+ to the big screen. Unfortunately, it didn’t take long before everything started to fall apart. The film was pulled by critics and had a worse opening weekend than that Alonemaking this the lowest opening for a live-action Star Wars film. After that terrible opening, Disney had only one hope: that The Mandalorian and the Grogu he can get such encouraging words that the second weekend will bring in more money than the first weekend.
That’s exactly what happened Infatuationmaking it the first horror film of a thousand years for more on its second weekend. As for Disney, it looks like the studio should have bought One Wish Willow and made a wish. right now, The Mandalorian and the GroguThe box office dropped at least 69 percent in its second weekend, which would be the biggest drop in Star Wars history (previously, Alone he was the biggest loser with a 65 percent drop). Worse yet, this latest film set in a galaxy far, far away is likely to flop at the box office Back roomsanother little horror movie with no commercials.
This Is Where The Fun Begins

Why is a film’s second weekend box office so important? Basically, it helps fans and filmmakers alike estimate how much a movie will make before it hits theaters. Outsiders love it Infatuation however, films almost always lose money in their second weekend; therefore, it is not a question of if box office down from how much the box office is falling. A small drop shows that the film has legs and is likely to earn more. The big drop, however, shows that the movie won’t be nearly as profitable and will end up digital and streamed that quickly.
right now, Deadline report that The Mandalorian and the Grogu it will have a 69 percent drop in its second weekend. That’s pretty bleak for the franchise, since the Star Wars movies were once considered reliable, multi-billion dollar blockbusters (yes, The Last Jedi again Rise of Skywalker). Poor box office performance Solo: A Star Wars Story forced Disney to pivot and turn many of its intended film projects (such as Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi solo movies) into Disney+ TV shows. The studio knew things would be bad if AloneThe box office dropped by 65 percent in the second weekend. Therefore, Mandalorian and GroguA 69 percent drop is devastating.
They Have a Bad Feeling About This

In a vacuum (including the cold vacuum of space), The Mandalorian and the GroguA box office failure would be very embarrassing for Disney. However, it is almost impossible to avoid comparing the failure of this sci-fi film with the mysterious success of the two biggest horror films that currently share the multiplex. You see, Disney is said to have spent approx $100 million home to market its latest Star Wars movie. Currently, Back rooms it reportedly has a marketing budget of just over $10 million, and is likely to exceed it The Mandalorian and the Grogu‘s box office this weekend. House of Mouse spent 10 times more and may finally lose its top spot at the box office to a low-budget horror film.
Speaking of low budget, Infatuation it was made for less than a million dollars, and has currently grossed over $108 million. What is the secret about these horror movies? Obsession director Curry Barker and Back rooms Director Kane Parsons both got their start on YouTube, where they gained a large following before moving on to animation. YouTube taught both filmmakers how to make the most of limited budgets, and now they’re using those skills to make horror movie history. As for Star Wars, its producers are spending less money to plan a disappointing film budget for a dwindling number of fans.
Help me, Indie Filmmakers: You’re My Only Hope

There’s a painful lesson in all of this for Disney: ever since they took control of the Star Wars franchise, they’ve been pissing off the most loyal sci-fi audience in movie history. The Sequel Trilogy was a disappointment, and the TV shows on Disney+ were very hit or miss. Also, the producers used their popular platform to completely destroy the magic of this franchise. Star Wars no longer feels special; the spread of dirty contents that you wear while washing dishes. After more than a decade of artistic mismanagement, Disney has alienated many fans with one sh*tty movie and even bad show after another.
The fandom will never die, and the faithful whose walls are lined with action figures will always support new Star Wars films. But there are only so many loyal ones left, and their numbers are dwindling The Mandalorian and the Grogu prove that there are not enough fans to turn these movies into blockbusters like they are A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Backor even The Phantom Menace. The only way forward for the franchise is to hire young filmmakers with a different creative vision. But that won’t happen because the talented directors focusing on their IPs have done what Star Wars fans can’t: leave their beloved childhood toys firmly in the past.
