Whenever the name Pamela Anderson comes up, the general audience usually thinks of Tommy Lee’s tapes or her work with Playboy. Of course, we have to talk Baywatch and an action drama of unparalleled quality VIP. I find this a shame because Anderson, when he’s at his best, knows how to hold his own in comedies, which we saw most recently when he starred alongside Liam Neeson in 2025. The Naked Gun reboot. Back in 1994, Anderson stole the show in a little song called Green justicecurrently streaming for free on Tubi under the title Good cop, bad cop.

The thing I always admire about Pamela Anderson’s work in this wheelhouse is how strong she is and how well she plays with her co-stars. She’s well aware that she’s being cast as a blonde bombshell, but she’s the best at throwing zingers, winking and nodding, as if to say, “I belong here, and I’ll be yours.”

And that’s exactly what you get for it Good cop, bad cop. It’s billed as a thriller, but to me, it plays like a straight comedy. The mystery itself is boilerplate, but let’s be real here. When there’s a murder mystery involving a bounty hunter, his prime suspect who maintains his innocence, and a sex worker played by Anderson who just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, no one is watching the plot. They watch them because they want a familiar narrative framework that allows the actors to lean into the genre conventions we all love and chew on more interesting and beautiful ground than the audience can handle.

The Mayor’s Daughter Has Died, What Happened?

When Good cop, bad cop first introducing us to Mace (David Keith), we get a crash course in everything we need to know about him. He is a compassionate hunter and ex-cop who catches criminals by any means necessary, even if that means borrowing the clothes of a trafficker named Sarah (Pamela Anderson) so he can access the motel room where the suspect is sleeping. Mace’s butt goes with Detective Atkins (Leo Rossi) and Stiles (Charles Napier) whenever they cross paths, especially after she’s pulled into the station dressed as a lady of the night, complete with a black wig, hot red top, and little black skirt.

However, the real conflict comes in the form of the murder of Donna Stiles (April Bogenschutz). Donna was the daughter of Mayor David Stiles (Charles Napier) and Mace’s former lover, so this case hits close to home when the mayor visits her asking for help. Torn by Donna’s death, Mace takes on the case, and the mayor orders him to work closely with Deputy Mayor Bob Jenkins, portrayed by Stacy Keach, for the job. But there’s one thing you need to know about Mace about his emotional connection to the murder mystery: he doesn’t take the “woe is me” approach, and he’s not out for revenge. He just wants to do his job and get on with his life.

The prime suspect in Donna’s murder is her latest boyfriend, Mitch McCallum (Robert Hays). Mitch is immediately arrested, but his bail is posted anonymously. We soon find out that he has been released to be executed as well, which means that whoever actually committed the crime can walk away innocent because the first suspect has been cleared.

When Mace tracks down Mitch, who maintains his innocence, the two team up buddy-cop style to find the real mastermind behind Donna’s death. Sarah accidentally gets involved when she angrily tracks Mace down to get her clothes back, and before you know it, we have a dream team of de facto sleuths who communicate almost entirely through one-liners and sex quotes. There may be a love triangle forming, but despite that, they remain focused on the case.

Chewing the Scenery For Sport

The dynamic between all the main characters Good cop, bad cop It’s a great thing because everyone here knows the job. We have a simple murder mystery, which would be boring on its own, but everything is suggested that this movie knows exactly what it is. The vibe hits somewhere between dirty pulp mystery and airboat action, with plenty of action explosions thrown in for good measure.

While Anderson absolutely kills it in this role due to his willingness to tap into comic success, high-speed car chases come to mind, David Keith’s magnetic portrayal of Mace cannot be overstated. He doesn’t mind a mistake, but he knows a good clue when he sees one. He’s not afraid to get his hands dirty, but he’ll hit a few sodas first to get them in the right headspace. He looks world-weary, but he also knows he has a job to do, hangovers be damned.

Add Stacy Keach’s ever-threatening presence as a man who always seems to know more than he’s letting on, rival bail bondsmen with ties to Mitch’s failed assassination attempt, and a handful of colorful side characters to the mix, and you’ve got a mystery thriller with zero fat in it but more than enough to keep you interested; there are enough context clues to keep you informed without the movie beating you over the head with it. You can just sit back, enjoy the action, and watch these characters interact because that’s the real selling point here.

It comes in Good cop, bad cop knowing that there will be a standard “good guy wins, bad guy loses” type of arc, there’s nothing to do but sit back and enjoy the show. That’s all there is to it, and I can’t stress enough how much fun this movie is if you watch it without pretense.
