Former President Barack Obama and comedian Larry David premiered their upcoming HBO Max series “Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness” at a new teahouse on Thursday.
“I’ve sat across the table from some of the world’s toughest leaders and wrestled with the world’s most intractable problems,” Obama said in the video. “Nothing prepared me for working with Larry David. I’m just a producer on the show, so I don’t have to deal with him every day, but, still, it’s a lot.”
David then goes on a rant, referring to Obama as “44” and jokingly asking if he can put him on the emergency list.

Fox News Digital has reached out to a representative for the Obamas for comment.
At Deadline, the series’ byline reads, “President and Mrs. Obama wanted to honor America’s 250th anniversary and celebrate our nation’s unique history at this special event…But then Larry David called.”

The series will feature actors such as Bill Hader, Kathryn Hahn, Jon Hamm and Sean Hayes as well as Obama himself.
“Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness” will premiere on June 26 with new episodes airing weekly.

The former president commented on the change during a special edition of HistoryTalks.

“[W]we’ve been working with Netflix,” Obama said. “We’re in the process now of going private [future] where we can work with a lot of different studios.”
Responses on social media were mixed. One reader on X responded to the news by saying, “I like Larry David, but I found this weird. The show could still be good though. The premise of the beat was too basic and didn’t really have a punch line.”
Another offered more hope, saying, “I can’t wait for this! Larry David campaigned for Barack Obama during the 2008 New Hampshire primary, so these two are going back to back!”
