Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay is opening up about the visual changes taking place on the set of the new crime procedural after the show got its first female showrunner.
“I had a secret idea of having a female runner for a couple of years,” Hargitay, 62, told me. Variety in an interview published Saturday, June 12, commenting on the hit NBC show hiring Michele Fazekas as a producer for the show’s season 27. (Fazekas, 49, worked in the show’s writers’ room for seasons 3 through 7.)
“Michele and I were always in touch. She was very smart, and through those years it continued SVU it was one of my favorites,” continued the actor.” “His episodes at that time were not very good.”

“We were all rowing the same way,” Fazekas told the outlet. “There’s no toxicity. Having worked in really toxic environments, it’s like, oh my God, I don’t know what to do with myself! We all want to put on a good show and not make it harder than it needs to be.”
Hargitay added that now that Fazekas is steering the ship, things feel “old and new” on the show.
