Joseph and Kendra Duggar Talk About Financial Struggles in Jailbreak

Joseph again Kendra Duggar talked about handling their financial problems in a recent prison call.

According to the audio received by Us Weekly According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Kendra, 27, and Joseph, 31, were discussing selling some of their cars while the Counting On alum was incarcerated after his arrest. (Joseph has since been released and has pleaded not guilty to child molestation charges.)

“It’s possible [brother] Jed [Duggar] he can help us sell that one truck that we haven’t sold yet,” said Joseph to his wife.

Kendra replied that Jed “already has a truck” and was discussing other things they could write to sell to make a quick buck.

“You were thinking about selling your car and other things,” Kendra said. “So we should talk maybe next time, if you want to talk about selling some of the things.”

Joseph agreed that selling the wagon was a good idea since they had “many.”

“So just keep that one with the different tools I have and throw the rest away,” he said. Kendra suggested that Jed lock Joseph’s tools in the “office garage” if they wanted to make “a little money” by selling the extra cart.

At one point in the interview, Kendra discussed a loan they needed to pay for a recent construction project.

“We tried to search for the exact number they sent, but we couldn’t find that number,” he recalled. “I need to pay Gale. I need to write him a check sometime.”

Joseph asked if that was for the $3,200 balance and Kendra noted that it was $6,200, which Joseph said he didn’t think was fair.

“That’s what Jed said. Yeah, but that doesn’t sound right,” Kendra replied. “He’s like, ‘We have to call them and get the evidence.’ So we haven’t paid him.”

Kendra asked if Gale was a good person and Joseph corrected her on what they owed. He said they owe one construction company $3,200 and an architect $600 for work on their damaged home.

Last month news broke that Joseph was arrested after being accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, who was 9 years old at the time of the incident. He was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving the molestation of a victim under the age of 12 and lewd and lascivious behavior by a person 18 or older. Joseph, who pleaded not guilty, was released after posting $600,000 bail.

Kendra reportedly rented out her home and sold several items to pay Joseph’s bond. He sold their trailers, four wheelers, pressure washer, waterproof tarp and wood splitter.

Amid the couple’s financial struggles, Kendra’s father created a GoFundMe to cover the family’s moving and transportation expenses.

Kendra’s father, Paul Caldwell, wrote on the page. “We will not use these funds [our] legal costs.”

In addition to Joseph’s molestation charges, both he and Kendra were charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of false imprisonment. These charges have nothing to do with Joseph’s alleged molestation.

Since its inception, the fundraiser has raised over $25K in donations with a goal of $30K as of Thursday, April 9.

In a previous call with Kendra, Joseph revealed that every time they talk on the phone, it costs money.

“Oh, of course [it] does it cost money to call me all the time?” Kendra asked Joseph during the phone conversation, in an audio recorded by Us. “Do you need more money?”

Joseph explained that he had $60 for phone calls and other privileges, which were determined based on the amount in his wallet at the time of booking. He also revealed that he only uses the money for phone calls.
