Jennifer Lopez made a bold style statement with a big hat at Wimbledon over the weekend, but her eye-catching accessory sparked controversy on social media.
The 56-year-old actress and singer faced controversy after wearing a large wide-brimmed Ralph Lauren hat while attending the Wimbledon singles final at the All England Club’s Center Court in London on Sunday.
Fans quickly took to social media to express their disapproval of Lopez’s head after seeing her sitting in the Royal Box next to Tom Hiddleston at the tennis tournament.

“This kind of hat is not appropriate for such events! You should do your homework lady!” noted one critic.
“Just knowing, with this hat, visitors who paid a lot of money to be there, can’t watch because they like to look good on Instagram,” said one social media user.
“Ridiculous hat,” chimed in another. “If I was sitting behind his words, they would have been spoken.”
“Imagine sitting behind that hat. You couldn’t see a thing. There should be a law against that,” another scoffer wrote.

“Love the dress not the hat for this type of event,” wrote a fan. “First of all, it looks like a crumpled paper bag. Maybe it’s the Kentucky Derby because it’s a hat show. But tennis matches are conservative, clean, and tidy so the clothes have to match the game. You’ve got great hair. Work it.”
However, some fans defended the appearance of the star of “The Wedding Planner”, many noting that Lopez later removed the hat while enjoying the game with Hiddleston.
“She took off her hat. People left this woman alone,” wrote one fan on social media.

“Love her, she looks amazing as always,” commented another fan. “What a beautiful lady.”
“JLo and Tom Hiddleston are living their tennis best,” wrote user X. “Pure beauty in the stands!”

Although hats are not prohibited in the Royal Box for Wimbledon invitation-only, guests are generally expected to remove large or wide-brimmed hats while seated if they obstruct other people’s view.
Per Wimbledon’s website, “Women are asked not to wear hats, as they tend to obscure the view of those sitting behind them.”
However, Wimbledon has reportedly relaxed its traditional hat practices amid rising temperatures as the United Kingdom grapples with its third heatwave of the summer and even issued official fedoras to guests.
