From the courts to the critics, Trump is running into the truth as obstacles mount

President Trump has not had a good week. I don’t think anyone would argue with that.

The man who has completely dominated the Republican Party has been forced to back down or back down, in part because of the recorded anger of GOP lawmakers.

That included his plan to create a $1.8 billion “anti-gun” fund, most of which would go to the Jan. 6, whom they call patriots. The idea of rewarding people who attacked the police, occupied the residences of members and chanted “Hang Mike Pence!” he touched a deep nerve (even in the community).

When the leaders of his party, who often roll over and play dead, began to criticize what some of them called the slush fund, Trump knew he had a winner on his hands and yesterday he tried to cut his losses: He officially killed the subsidy program.

This, of course, grew out of his suit against the IRS, where Trump was actually blamed for his tax evasion, but as president he was “negotiating” with his subordinates.

Then there are the courts, where even the Supreme Court has not forgotten Trump’s anger over decisions he doesn’t like, such as dropping his taxes around the world. He called the judges names, calling them “fools and dogs,” “shame” and “shame.”

Which brings us to the Kennedy Center fiasco.

A federal judge ordered Trump’s name removed from the gleaming marble balcony overlooking the Potomac River that had recently become the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. A judge temporarily blocked the two-year closure that was scheduled to begin this summer.

The president tweeted that unless he was in charge, he had “no interest in continuing the hopeless journey,” suggesting he would refer it to Congress.

“Unfortunately, Judge Cooper and the Radical Left would rather see the FA than President Trump turn it into something everyone can be proud of, as I have done, in many cases, throughout my life,” he wrote.

Judge Christopher Cooper, setting a two-week deadline, said Trump’s renaming violated a 1964 law that made it clear that the institution was to be named after the slain president and that only Congress could change it.

I think the center can stay open while undergoing partial renovations, but of course there are no shows booked yet.

The big pattern is that most judges no longer trust management lawyers.

“Their wrongdoing in court comes as the department’s leadership disagrees in an unusual way with the judges who ruled against them,” said the New York Times.

A spokesman for Trump’s Justice Department said: “Any attack on the professionalism or integrity of DOJ lawyers is offensive and unjustified.”

Finally, there is the court of public opinion for Trump, who turns 80 next month.

Many people were upset about the design of the $250 bill with Trump’s face on it. I’m not worried about that because I don’t plan to buy anything with the $250 note, but it doesn’t go down well.

I can’t believe most people are crazy about the dramatic demolition of the East Wing, the plans for the 250-foot arch, or the obsession with building a White House ballroom. That would have been paid for by private donations, but now Congress wants to allocate $1 billion in taxpayer dollars — a sort of bait and switch.

The war on Iran, whose “negotiations” have been plagued by attacks, is increasingly unpopular. A PBS/Marist poll last month found that 60 percent of respondents disapprove of the war and are generally frustrated by rising food and gas costs.

As for the 4th of July celebration, many artists, including Milli Vanilli, Flo Rida and Young MC, have quit so much that the president canceled the concert and will make it a MAGA convention that includes …

Look, Donald Trump has always been at the center of his narrative. He is a born actor, dating back to the days of “The Apprentice”.

I have interviewed Trump many times, and he can sit for an hour and rattle off answers on a wide range of topics spanning the last 40 years. So any talk that you are at risk of dementia is complete BS by ignorant critics. But he seems unsure now.

Physically, the worst thing you can say about Trump is that he has swollen ankles and sometimes closes his eyes in meetings.
