Eric Trump supports Pentagon humanoid robot contract to fight China

Foundation Future Industries founder and CEO Sankaet Pathak and Trump Organization Senior Vice President Eric Trump discuss battlefield robots, national security risks, and China’s competition on ‘Mornings with Maria.
The future of America’s defense is facing a high-tech revolution as the Pentagon awarded a multi-billion dollar contract to test heavy humanoid robots.
Foundation Future Industries recently received a $24 million contract for its “Phantom” robots, designed to breach enemy sites and save American lives. CEO Sankaet Pathak and senior strategic adviser Eric Trump say the technology will help maintain America’s edge on the battlefield.
“We are America First. We have to win this race,” Trump said Thursday on “Mornings with Maria.”
“The uses are unlimited, and I think it’s a great thing, but we have to win this race,” he added.

Pathak noted that China has also been working on similar technologies, making strides in land- and air-based autonomy. He said that although the US is still competing in air wars, this contract aims to strengthen its readiness in the world.

“You can’t build a utopia and then protect it. That doesn’t make sense,” Pathak said, adding, “There are a lot of people who want to destroy what’s in America.”

Trump said he decided to invest in the company and the Phantom robot because of the pressure to surpass China. He mentioned that he has seen robots in action and believes they can reshape military operations.

The robots themselves are designed for fluid power and motion. The Foundation’s website says the latest version of the technology has removed the “robot” feel, allowing them to better blend into “human environments.”

The bot featured on the company’s website weighs 176 kilograms and can move at 1.7 meters per second. Pathak said there are technologies on the way, including the Phantom 2. He also noted that the company believes robots can serve industries beyond defense, including construction and disaster relief.
“I think we’re going to reveal it in the next few months, I don’t think there’s anything like that,” Pathak told Fox Business. “I think it will be the most powerful robot in the world, including China.”
