Passengers aboard Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Adventure said their four-night cruise from Singapore was canceled after boarding due to technical problems, leaving families waiting hours for answers before being sent to hotels late at night.
The guests had already set sail on May 7 when the ship’s captain reportedly told them there were technical issues and that they would be “departing soon,” according to a passenger who posted the situation on Reddit.
At around 2pm local time the next day, the captain announced that the cruise would be canceled altogether.
“It’s really disappointing especially if you’re visiting with kids,” the user wrote.

The passenger said that guests waited for hours to receive official instructions after the announcement, with only a handful of staff helping guests.
They said they did not receive the hotel information until 12:10 am and did not expect to arrive at their hotel until 1:30 am.
A letter to guests, later obtained and published by the Disney Cruise Line Blog, said the cruise could not proceed as planned and apologized for the inconvenience.

“We are truly sorry to inform you that we are unable to continue your Disney Adventure experience from May 7-11, 2026 as planned,” the company wrote, adding that “your safety and comfort as our guests is always our top priority.”
The cruise line says affected guests will receive a full refund, a 50% discount on future cruises and a free hotel stay, as well as reimbursement for re-flight expenses of up to $500 per stateroom for the cost of the accident.
However, the passenger raised concerns about the compensation, noting that the 50% discount for future travel requires booking by July 31, 2026, and departure by May 31, 2027.
A Disney spokesperson told FOX Business that future trips must be booked, and must depart on or before May 31, 2027. The spokesperson noted that they want guests to have more time, so they refer to the new booking window in subsequent communications with passengers.

The user also asked if the accommodations were the same for all guests, saying that some passengers with back-to-back bookings received multiple free nights while others were given only one night.
“We got to our hotel around 2:00 am and we have to check out at 12 noon… that’s not a full night,” the user wrote.
Additional complaints include a reported S$200 (about $150 USD) bill for food and drink, which a passenger said barely covers a meal for one person – let alone a family of four.
The operator said some travelers have flown in from countries including India, Australia and Canada directly for the cruise, describing it as the “worst” Disney experience they’ve ever had.
“Disney Adventure has proceeded as planned on its next trip after the issue was resolved,” a Disney spokesperson told FOX Business. “We fully understand that this was an unfortunate situation for our guests and we worked directly with them to support their travel needs, help make their journey home as smooth as possible and invite them back to the beach next time.”
