Despite numerous show cancellations and postponements, Barry Manilow is determined to return to the stage in June amid his ongoing cancer treatment.
On Friday, the 82-year-old singer announced that although he had to cancel his “Hits Come Home” residency dates in May at the Westgate Resort in Las Vegas, he is “making great progress” with his lung cancer treatment and plans to return to the stage sooner rather than later.
“Good news! I went to the doctor yesterday and he said that I am improving and looking good! Yes, I am! Thank you very much!” wrote to X. “All the training and exercise I put in is paying off.”

“He said though that I’m not quite ready to go to Vegas. That means I won’t be able to come back for our May shows at @WestgateVegas. But the good news is he said I’ll be ready for my June stage shows in the UK. It’ll be great to see you all in the UK. Westgate Las Vegas is my home away from home… and I’ll see you all in the UK in June and hopefully in June. I hope to see you then… Barry.”
In December, Manilow revealed that he was diagnosed with early stage lung cancer after doctors found a cancerous spot in his left lung following a bout of bronchitis.
“As many of you know I just went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse for another five weeks,” Manilow wrote. on Instagram at that time. “Even though I was over bronchitis and returning to the stage at Westgate Las Vegas, my amazing doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure everything was fine. The MRI found a cancerous spot in my left lung that needed to be removed. It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found early. This is great news.”

“The sad thing is that since the A Gift of Love Christmas concerts are over, I will have surgery to remove the space,” he continued. “The doctors don’t believe it’s spread and I’m taking tests to make sure I have it. So, it is. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy on repeat.”

“You’re in good shape considering what you’ve been through, but your body isn’t ready yet. You don’t have to do the first pitch shows. You’re not going to make it.”
Manilow continued, “I had a feeling he would say that. Deep down…my body knew what my heart didn’t want to admit: I wasn’t ready…When I come back, I’m coming back!!!”
