LARRY KUDLOW: Let’s make April 15, Tax Day, a tax cut day that promotes growth

Today is April 15, tax day, and it should be a day of celebration for almost all taxpayers because of one, big, good bill President Trump signed last July 4th. Not only did you avoid the $4.5 trillion tax increase proposed by Democrats, but you also provided huge tax cuts that boosted growth for the majority of American taxpayers. And 53 million people said one of Mr. And another 51 million seniors will not pay taxes on their Social Security under the law. No taxes on tips and overtime will increase take-home pay by about $1,400 per person.

Here are some factoids: more than 6 million people have applied for tax exemption on tips. The average deduction is over $7,100. More than 25 million people have applied for tax exemptions overtime. The average deduction is over $3,100. And more than 30 million seniors have applied to be exempt from paying Social Security taxes. The average deduction is more than $7,500.

The small business tax deduction remains. The 100 percent immediate cost of business and factory construction is funding millions of new high-wage jobs to increase the kitchen income of the middle-class family. Everything is there. But for some reason, most Americans don’t seem to know about it.

The widely regarded TIPP poll shows that 40 percent of Americans think their taxes are going up, and only about 10 percent think they are going down. Thirty-seven percent think there will be no change.

So the Republican party has a marketing problem. When I sat down with Mr. Trump last February and I raised this issue, he agreed that he and his team should do a better job of getting the message out. The TIPP survey, which was just completed, shows that the message is not getting out. And some surveys would agree with that.

I know the president is a busy man, destroying Iran and winning the war, which is very important, but he and his team and congressional leaders have just done a better job of selling the tax cuts. Republicans should put together another plan to grow the economy. There is plenty of time to do it with reconciliation that requires 50 votes and a vice president. And I’m not interested in a small program.

I’m not interested in an anorexic plan, I’m advocating a comprehensive plan with tax cuts, especially a currency exchange benefit. Huge savings from waste, fraud, and abuse, we need real voter ID funding, and a Pentagon war supplement. Everything should be in there. And I hope that this growth plan can be realized. I had a discussion about this with the majority leader, Senator John Thune, yesterday.

“You’re talking about a very emaciated anorexic, I like that, anorexic, very anorexic, anorexic reconciliation bill,” I said, but “Mr. Thune, you’re not the type of leader who doesn’t have anorexia.” Mr. Thune replied: “If we want to make a budget decision and make a comprehensive approach and use reconciliation in the way you described, there will be an opportunity to do that.” I asked: “This year?” Mr. Thune replied: “Obviously, it depends.” I repeated: “This year, sir? Big, good.” “Big and beautiful,” replied Mr. Thune. “Big, Beautiful 2.0 bill,” I said. “It depends on getting votes,” said Mr Thune. When I asked if he was open to such a measure, Mr. Thune replied: “Yes, absolutely. I’m doing more, not less.”

I hope that Speaker Mike Johnson will be open to a broader growth plan as Mr. A grave that seems like that. And I hope the rest of the Republican Party will follow suit. Yes, today is tax day. Let’s make it a pro-growth tax cut day. Mr Trump will win the Iran war. Yet he and the GOP must win the domestic economic battle, in other words, the midterm elections.
