Dave Portnoy Wants Tiger Woods ‘Behind Bars’ After DUI Arrest

Like fallout from Tiger Woods‘ On Friday, March 27, the DUI arrest continues, the founder of Barstool Dave Portnoy calls for a top golfer to spend some time in prison.

“What’s wrong with Tiger Woods?” Portnoy, 49, asked his listeners on the Monday, March 30 episode of his “Wake Up Barstool” podcast. “You can drive someone, they must have a driver where they are going. There is no excuse.”

He went on to say, “If you walk with a disability, you’re not just putting yourself at risk, you’re putting anyone on the road and innocent people at risk.”

Woods, 50, was arrested after being involved in a car accident in Jupiter Island, Florida. Authorities have charged the top golfer with DUI, criminal mischief and refusing to submit to a legal test after he refused a urine test following a negative breathalyzer test.

The arrest affidavit obtained by Us Weekly he testified that Woods had two hydrocodone pills in his pocket when he was arrested. It also described Woods as “weak and slow,” with eyes that were “bloodshot and glassy” with “widely dilated” pupils.

“You can’t make light of it, and I have no sympathy for this guy,” Portnoy added of Wood’s DUI. “Put him in the cells, put him in jail for a while and resurrect him.

Woods was arrested again in 2017 for a DUI allegedly found asleep at the wheel of his speeding car, he admitted at the time that he was taking painkillers and eventually pleaded guilty to reckless driving. He served 50 hours of community service, completed a year of probation and paid a $250 fine.

He was also injured in a 2021 car crash in which he was allegedly driving at more than 80 miles per hour – twice the posted speed limit. No charges have been filed.

Perhaps most notably, Woods crashed his car into a fire pit in 2009, resulting in a reckless driving charge and a $164 fine. The accident happened when reports surfaced that he was having an extramarital affair, which led him to give up golf and focus on treatment.

After this latest incident, Portnoy stated that it is time for Woods to face a set of serious consequences before someone else gets hurt.

“It’s not difficult,” said Portnoy. “Really, you can’t feel sorry for the guy right now. Find the driver, he’s going to kill an innocent person.”

Portnoy has not been the only one to criticize Woods since his recent arrest. Retired NFL star Emmanuel Acho blasted the top golfer on the Sunday, March 29, episode of his late-night sports show, Speakeasy.

“Tiger, you have too many responsibilities, too much money, too much wisdom, and too many gray hairs that, this big time, this big year of 2026, you’re going to jail for DUIs,” said Acho, 35. “You have kids, you have a family name, you’re an incredibly powerful, important and successful person. And on top of all that, this is not your first incident.”

The golf commentator Brandel Chamblee he added that at this stage in his life, Woods doesn’t need to play golf anymore and it may be time to retire.

“Why would he need to play golf again?” he said on Friday’s episode of Golf Central. “I think he should ask himself that. Consider not playing golf anymore.”
