In contrast Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Francis Ford Coppola only produced Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. It fell to Kenneth Branagh directing the film and starring in it as Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist obsessed with creating life from death. No one can stop Frankenstein from his goal, which ends up creating a creature (Robert De Niro), who was created in the mind of his mentor and the body of the killer.
The creature soon finds out that he is an outcast in this world and no one will accept him as one of them. His jealousy of Victor is so great that it threatens the life of Frankenstein’s wife, Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter), if his suitor rejects his request to create a bride. And unlike other versions of the story, this creature doesn’t make threats that we can’t deal with.
