Rachael Leigh Cook Shares Insights into Strong Rider Romance

Rachael Leigh Cook shared the unusual of his teenage love no Rider Strong.
Speaking to Strong’s Boy Meets World costar, Danielle FishelOn the Wednesday, March 18, episode of the “Teenbeat” podcast, Cook, 46, reflected on their 1990s relationship.
I He is All That star revealed that Strong was “loving” and “deep” during their time together, and admitted that in retrospect he “didn’t understand” her like Fishel.
“The rider is a very poetic soul,” said Cook. “I remember this moment when he wanted to visit me in Italy, and there was this, like a sunflower field on the way to where we were going.”
Cook explained that Strong, 46, quickly decided to tell the driver to make a pitstop so the couple could run through the sunflowers together.
He says to the driver, ‘Stop the car.’ And he looks at me and I say, ‘Hey, what are we doing?'” Cook recalled. “We got to meet these flowers, like spikey-looking flowers, like in the movie.”
The actor noted that the experience made him realize that their personalities are not compatible enough for the relationship to continue.
“I knew then, like, I’m not, I’m not the person, that he’s going to need eventually,” she said. “And I tried, we went a little way into that field, and I said, ‘I don’t know about this.’

“I remember one time he said to me, ‘If you weren’t, you know, who would you want to be with?’ Cook recalls, explaining that she responded with her ex-boyfriend’s name.
Cook then told Fishel, 44, that when she asked Strong the same question, she replied, “Danielle.”
Previously, Fishel has gone public about his relationship with Strong while they were playing together Boy Meets World – which happened at the same time that Strong was dating Cook.
Fishel first revealed his past feelings for his costar during an August 2022 episode of their podcast “Pod Meets World.”
“He was very smart, and … one of my favorite things about Rider — and it still is today — [is that] Rider is very practical,” he said of what drew him to Strong in the first place. When he compliments you, it’s thoughtful, it’s meaningful, and you can tell it’s coming from a real place.”
In an October 2023 episode of the podcast, Fishel read an excerpt from her teenage diary written in the ’90s, which detailed her jealousy of Cook’s relationship with Strong.
“Then we went to acting class but we had to wait for Rachael,” Fishel recounted, revealing that the word “Rachael” was scrawled in anger. “Then Rider and Rachael got all lovey-dovey, and it made me want to puke. And then they kiss, and it looks really sweet. He’s actually sweet and cool, but I really like Rider. I don’t think he deserves her. Then again, maybe I don’t either.”
