Disney Fantasy Cruise Nassau and Lookout Cay

Share Disney cruise summary #1! Disney Fantasy to Nassau and Lookout Cay. Check out all my top Disney Cruise tips in this post.

Hello friends! Happy Monday! How are you? I hope you had a good start to the week. The kids are off for spring break (bless them) and we’re looking forward to planting all the things – the weather has been great – in addition to spending time with friends. We wanted to take a big trip but P said, “he’s gone” (is there such a thing?!) but after giving him days to chill, we’ll probably go to San Diego for a night or two.

Today, I wanted to share a recap of our recent Disney Cruise. It was lucky #7 and it was a miracle. I never thought I would be a *cruiser* but here we are. I LOVE IT. It’s a great opportunity to see different parts of the world with your kids without having to split your belongings in multiple hotels. You have the same hub every night, with entertainment, food, and great accommodations. Disney cruises are a big part of the reason we take our kids to such amazing places from an early age, including Italy, France, Greece, the Bahamas a few times, Mexico, and Alaska, in addition to the Disney islands of Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay.

This cruise was short, and the perfect length to fit into their Rodeo Break.

Disney Fantasy Cruise Nassau and Lookout Cay

Start date:

We flew out of Port Canaveral, which was a very easy flight. We had a very early morning arrival at the port, so we got on board and immediately went up to the lake for lunch and a swim. The pool is not busy at this time, so the kids can ride the water slide many times while enjoying the drink of the day. 😉

We did muster drill, Sail a Wave party, then enjoyed exploring the ship until dinner.

TBH dinner the first night was… terrible. Usually the food is very good but this was inedible. I had duck which is a strange choice, and it’s like duck boiled in water. It made me a little nervous for the rest of the trip, but the rest of the food was average. (And thankfully they have room service and quick bite options at the pool. We had late night fries and burgers that night.)

The first night’s show was AladdinPilot and P abandoned it in favor of playing a detective game. Liv and I enjoyed the show. The genie was funny.

Nassau:

Day 2 was in Nassau and we planned a trip to Atlantis. We went to Atlantis while in the Bahamas, and the kids loved it. It’s a great place with a lot to do: tons of slides, the best lazy river, pools, beach, harbor, etc. It was very easy to spend the whole day there.

It’s also worth mentioning that Atlantis has really stepped up their food game! I managed to get an amazing gf bowl with rice, jerk salmon, and yucca chips.

I also found a pineapple with rum on the beach that was magically refilled a few times. 😉

This night show was It is frozen and it was the best cast I’ve ever seen. I think all parents groan a little inside when they have to hear, “Let It Go” for the billionth time, but this version of Elsa gave me full body chills. I almost cried. That was good.

The girls liked the show so much that they re-entered the latest show. The pilot and I had dinner alone, which was weird but nice.

Lookout Cay:

It was our first visit to Disney’s newest island: Lookout Cay. They have a large bridge to reach the island to preserve the coral reefs. A short walk (about 7-10 minutes) with a beautiful view.

The water was PRISTINE: clear and azure blue, and the beach had soft, pink sand. They have a few offerings on the island, including a kids club, character interaction, a show, etc., but we just spent the day on the water, had our lunch, and snorkeled.

(I forgot my Rx snorkle mask but I brought these Rx goggles which allow me to be a happy mom but I can still see)

Beach Day:

Our last day was at the beach, and I love a beach day. We usually sleep, enjoy breakfast,

go to the gym, bingo, the kids can join the pool or go to the kids club, and it’s very charming and low-key. They have cruises like 13 nights of sea days and we need to do one! Everything you need is literally on board.

This night was also pirate night, with a fun pirate show at the pool and fireworks.

Liv and Pilot skipped this one, but P and I had a blast.

Eating gluten-free on a Disney Cruise:

Disney is amazing when it comes to food allergies. I’ve always been clear that P and I are not allergic, but treat sensitivities as allergies (very important). Every food allergy item is prepared in a separate kitchen and the key is that if you know you want something specific, you order it the night before with your server in the main dining room.

Almost anything can be made gluten-free including the famous Mickey churro waffles.

The past is in a dream, they were good, but this time, they were GOOD. Hot, soft, fresh, amazing. They also have warm gluten-free rolls waiting for you at dinner every night.

Disney cruise costumes:

On a cruise, I tend to bring something comfortable during the day, especially since I might be exercising. So I’ll wear lululemon and a Disney hoodie or pullover on the ship. At night, I’ll change for dinner and wear a dress and a light jacket, or a dress with sleeves because it’s always a little cold at night.

Farm Rio dress / Flabelus flats

Farm Rio romper from RTR / similar flats

Farm Rio dress / matching flats

My FAVE suit / button up

I also brought this suit and wore it on Atlantis day with jean shorts. My favorite “mom suit” – it’s comfortable, flattering, and covers my booty while I slide and make sand castles and crew.

For tourism I will change it depending on where we are going but if it is a beach day I just wear my suit and jean shorts and a coverup, or if it is not swimming or beach related, I wear a dress or a set with sneakers (like Vejas or Sambas).

Is a Disney trip worth it?

This post is not sponsored or gifted in any way (I wish haha) but if you are considering a Disney trip with your family, I highly recommend it. Even if you’re not a *Disney person* they really excel in entertainment, hospitality, phone facilities, and cleanliness. I will say that I think the quality of food in the main dining rooms has gone down over the last few years. Not nearly as good as it was on our first few trips.

We haven’t tried other travel options because we are happy with Disney. As the kids get older, we may explore other options – I’ve heard good things about Royal – but we’ll definitely stick with Disney.

They released this sale last week that made me feel a bit uncomfortable, but it’s great:

So tell me, friends: have you made a Disney trip? What did you think?

Are there any cruise lines you recommend for older kids?

xoxo

Gina
