NBC’s Sara Gore ‘Cancer Free’ After Sharing Diagnosis

NBC Sarah Gore gives an update on her life after sharing her breast cancer diagnosis.

“Hello, friends. Just a little update…” Gore wrote on Instagram on Sunday, July 12. “I’m doing great. Let’s get that out of the way. I’m cancer free now. Hallelujah. 🙌 I’m in the rebuilding phase and it’s going to take months. It’s a real journey. Healing took time, but every week I feel like I’m back.”

She continued, “Thank you for the letters. The food. The flowers. The prayers. The puzzles. The cards. The texts. The phone calls. Every thought that came my way. I felt SO MUCH about YOU. You carried me through some really tough days, and I will never forget your kindness.”

Gore shared that he will be back New York Live again Open House “soon,” adding that he “honestly can’t wait.”

“Until then, I’m busy with these last few slow days thankful for all the moments that usually pass too quickly for me to see,” she wrote. “It’s good to be here. I love you all. 🤍.”

Gore shared on air in April that he wanted to share something “very personal” with viewers.

“I’ve just been diagnosed with breast cancer, and I’m going to be leaving for treatment and surgery,” Gore said. “If I said I was a little scared, I’d be lying — and I’m in awe, frankly, because I’ve watched my mom and my sister go through this.”

Gore explained that she “always knew” she was at “high risk” for breast cancer because of her family’s medical history.

“I always thought this day would come,” he continued with his diagnosis. “But let me tell you, you’re never right, you’re never right, for some reason, or you catch it early because you do everything right.”

Gore was emotional as she added, “It hurt and I wasn’t ready for that. That really surprised me. It really hurt.”

Gore shared that she is “there” where she needs to be, including being “surrounded by amazing doctors and people who take such good care of me” both at home and at work.

“I feel very supported and as difficult as this is, I choose to believe – at least for me, at this point in time – that maybe there is a gift in this even if I don’t fully understand what it is,” Gore said. “I’m working on that part.”

He continued, “If anything, it’s just a reminder of how precious life is and how important it is to focus on what’s really important … I’ll come back better than ever, and I’ll see you on the other side of this.”
