Demi Lovato Remembers Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus Comparisons

Demi Lovato he was honest about the challenges of sharing the spotlight with him Selena Gomez again Miley Cyrus while on the Disney Channel.

Lovato said she felt “grateful” at the time and will “always be grateful for the friendship I had and continue to have” with Gomez, who starred in Wizards of Waverly Place. However, he admitted that being compared to Cyrus and Gomez was “challenging.”

“You usually have insecurities when you’re young,” he continued. So you start comparing yourself to other people.

Lovato added: “But one thing my mother instilled in me is, ‘There’s room for everyone, it’s not a competition.’ That’s what I really hold onto. That’s what got me at the time. I always tried to help everyone.”

To a large extent, Lovato is still dealing with how she feels about her time at Disney years after she left the network. “There are so many emotions that come to my mind when I think about that time in my life,” he said. “Those were the years that started everything for me, and I have very fond memories. Lovato spoke directly about her illness and mental health battles before adding, “But in the end, [I have] very fond memories. I made friends that I will have for the rest of my life.”

The singer previously opened up about her experiences since giving birth in a September 2024 Hulu special while chatting with other cast members about the pitfalls of fame.

“I wouldn’t be where I am if I hadn’t made all the decisions up until now, but it came at a price,” Lovato explained to Child Star. “There is absolutely no book that explains how to run this industry at such a young age.”

After appearing on Barney & Friends, Lovato was booked and busy on the Disney Channel and pursued a career in music, which left her bored.

“It was such a part of my isolation that I don’t remember much of my schedule,” he commented at the time. “But I remember how difficult it was to work with him because I was in a lot of pain and hurt.”

Lovato also spoke about the pressure that comes with being called a role model, adding, “I had to be careful with everything I did as a Disney kid. Obviously you couldn’t swear or curse in front of people.”
