Connor Murphy, ‘looksmaxxing’ promoter, drowns in Thai lake aged 32

Promoter Connor Murphy, known for his “good-looking” content, died on July 7 in Thailand in what authorities described as apparent drowning. He was 32 years old.

Friends of the content creator confirmed his death on July 8 on social media.

Police in Samut Prakan province were called on Tuesday afternoon to a high-end rental house after receiving a report that a man was behaving strangely, reported the Bangkok Post and Thairath.

A worker at the residence recorded a video of Murphy before he went to a nearby lake, according to Khaosod English.

Witnesses told Khaosod English that Murphy swam for a few minutes before he seemed to pass out, adding that they did not try to enter the water because the pool was more than 10 meters (or about 33 meters).

Divers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation searched for about 30 minutes before finding Murphy about 20 meters from shore.

Fox News Digital has contacted the Samut Prakan Police headquarters and the Tourist Police Bureau for comment.

Police told Thai media that initial tests found no signs of assault, and his body was sent to Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital for an autopsy.

A full autopsy and toxicology findings are pending, noted Khaosod English.

Murphy and his 22-year-old girlfriend, identified by Khaosod English only as Bee, were living in the luxury apartment under a three-month lease, according to the Bangkok Post.

The owner of the house told Khaosod English that the property was worth about 22 million baht (about $600,000) and was being rented for 35,000 baht a month (or more than $1,000).

Police found that parts of the house had been sprayed with black and yellow paint, including furniture, decorations and electrical appliances, Khaosod English said.

Bee told the police that the damage appeared to have happened overnight while he was sleeping in another room, reports the Bangkok Post.

He noted that he had never seen Murphy use drugs and described his behavior that day as unusual, according to local outlets.

Texas-born Murphy had more than 2.7 million followers across YouTube and Instagram, where he posts bodybuilding and fitness content.

He said he was part of the super-good-looking community, a male-dominated subculture associated with creator Clavicular, focused on fitness and body image enhancement, sometimes to extreme measures.

His social media pages appear to have been last updated on July 3, when he uploaded a video of himself kicking a ball in a luxury home.

The investigation is said to be ongoing.
