Last summer, the DCU got off to a great start thanks to James Gunn Superman. Bright, colorful, and absurdly silly, this cinematic universe seemed like an alternative to the grim and dirty DCEU and the grounded, loud MCU. As if to drive that point home, Gunn’s film ended up succeeding two of Marvel’s most anticipated movies: Thunder Lights (a quirky, comedy blockbuster with a few familiar faces) and Fantastic Four: First Steps (an invented brand name associated with Pedro Pascal, Hollywood’s latest wonderboy). Now, we have a crossover between Marvel and DC, too Supergirl again Spider-Man: A New Day both are competing to be the biggest movie of the summer.
While Brand new Day won’t be out until July 31st, it looks like Marvel has already won this rematch.
