The US President says the conflict is expected to last “four to five weeks, but we have the ability to go longer than that.”

Since Saturday’s first attack on Iran, Trump said he has warned Iran not to “make any attempt to rebuild” its nuclear program.

“I said it from the beginning: they will never have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said Monday afternoon at the Medal of Honor ceremony in his first live speech since the attack.

He also outlined current US military objectives.

“First, we’re destroying Iran’s missile capabilities, and you see that happening every hour with their new and better production capabilities,” he said.

“Secondly, we’re destroying their navy. We’ve already destroyed 10 ships. They’re under the sea. Thirdly, we’re making sure that the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism will never get a nuclear weapon, never have a nuclear weapon.”

He also said that “our country itself will be at risk, and almost at risk.”

“We thought we had an agreement, but then they backed out and came back and we thought we had an agreement and then they backed out. I said you can’t deal with these people. You have to do it the right way.”
