On screen, though, Sam doesn’t care about Percy’s one-night stand with Charlie—this time after an official breakup while Sam was in college—and how it contributed to his past breakup with her.

Although Percy has one connection with both Florek brothers, Fortune spoke to people who compared them Every Year AfterSurprise reveals another successful Prime Video book in the series of screen adaptations Summer I turned beautifulsuccessor to Belly (Lola Tung) a complicated love triangle with his brother Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Chris Briney).

“It’s not about someone choosing between other people,” Fortune, 42, explained exclusively Us Weekly about his story. “That’s what a love triangle is, where there’s equal tension in the triangle. It’s just not what it is. I think the show is very much about places that are important to those people and places that stay with us for many years, it’s about coming home.”

He continued, “It’s about how we grow and evolve, but our little species stay with us. I think they’re very soft.”

Aurora Perrineauwho plays Chantal in the series, also shared her take.

“I think it has the same ambition as The Summer I Turn Pretty, but I think it’s not really a love triangle,” he said. Us. “I don’t think it’s a love triangle. I think, again, he’s a little old, because he’s talking about old people.”

Perrineau, 31, called Every Year After more of the “forgiveness conversation” between Percy and Sam.

“I think it’s something that a lot of people – maybe they haven’t been in a similar situation – but that’s something to try to understand how to forgive people and if you can,” he shared. “I think that’s what people will stick with.”
