Sydney Sweeney Talks About Euphoria’s Nude Scenes, A Fan-Only Storyline

Sydney Sweeney looks back at Cassie’s OnlyFans storyline and her now-controversial storyline Euphoria season 3 nude scenes.
“From the beginning, you can see that Cassie has this need to be loved. “She has a need for validation from other people,” the actress, 28, said of her character’s popularity to OnlyFans in an interview with Vanity Fair published on Tuesday, June 9. “He doesn’t know how to love himself unless someone else loves him. Kaitlin Simpson Sam [Levinson] took him to where he is in season three. I think he was very happy with the sight of all these people who love him and know who he is and feel like his world is not small.”
Sweeney explained that before filming began Levinson talked to her about his plans for Cassie.
“Actually, when we finished the second season, he started saying different ideas that he was putting together for the third season. And it was very similar to the first and second seasons, he would call me, usually a few weeks after we wrapped, and he would give me the whole idea,” he recalled. “So I knew years before we started filming season three that I was going to get married to Nate, we were going to be living in the suburbs, and Cassie was going to be even crazier than before.”
Sweeney added that he only had “an idea” of what Levinson was cooking up until he got his hands on the final script. He and Levinson also explored her emotional health to see how she feels about doing nude scenes.
“He sent me all the scripts and it already had all of Cassie’s scenes in it, the OnlyFan scenes, he called me after that, he was talking about it, [talked] in everything,” he said, “He asked me how I felt about it, and I told him, ‘Look, I’m playing a character.’ Do I agree with all of Cassie’s decisions? Can I personally make these decisions? No, it’s not. But I’m an actor and that’s my job and this is Cassie’s life and to be able to do her justice and play her the way she’s going to be played is bringing Sam’s vision to life and playing Cassie in a very vulnerable and crazy way.”
In Season 3, Cassie married high school sweetheart Nate (Jacob Elordi) and both live in the suburbs. While Nate worked during the day, Cassie decided she wanted to work as a model for OnlyFans. Throughout the season, Cassie’s career goals have been a hot topic as many NSFW creators have criticized the show’s portrayal of their industry, however, Levinson has stood by her story and Sweeney’s commitment to the character.
“I think he’s a completely fearless player. He’s also incredibly professional, and he just shows the game every day,” Levinson said on a June episode of the New York Times’ “Popcast” podcast. . “I like working with him, because there is a lot of flexibility in terms of performance.”
