President Donald Trump on Saturday criticized Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., a longtime friend of the president, also threatened to back a major challenger after campaigning for one of her top Republican rivals.
Trump lashed out on Truth Social against Boebert, whom he previously endorsed for re-election, just hours after campaigning with Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., is one of Trump’s most vocal GOP critics in Congress.
“Is anyone interested in running against Weak Minded Lauren Boebert in the Fourth Congressional District?” Trump wrote.
The president criticized Boebert for supporting Massie, whose main opponent, retired Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein, was endorsed by Trump.

“Boebert is campaigning for the Worst ‘Republican’ Congressman in Our Country’s History, Thomas Massie, of the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky, and whoever would be that dumb deserves a good Primary fight!” Trump wrote. “Although I supported Boebert a long time ago, if the right person comes along, it would be my Honor to withdraw that Approval, and approve another good and suitable alternative.”
“Just let me know, or announce your Candidacy, I’ll be there!” he added.
Boebert declined to comment directly on Trump’s post when asked by Fox News, saying he did not want to “raise it”. He later defended his support for Massie on the X website.

“Yes, I have seen the position of the President. No, I am not mad or angry,” he wrote. “I knew the risks when I agreed to stand with my friend Thomas Massie. I was America First, America Always, and MAGA, and I will be.”
When asked about Trump’s post following a campaign rally Saturday in Kentucky, Massie told Fox News it was too late to challenge Boebert because the filing deadline had passed.
“I think he should mend fences with these people, not try to burn bridges,” he added.

Trump has vowed to impeach Massie, who forced the release of government files related to late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Massie has also repeatedly criticized Trump on foreign policy issues.
In a separate Truth Social post on Saturday, Trump again attacked Massie as a “disloyal” Republican while again endorsing Gallrein.
“His name is Thomas Massie, and he is a dishonest, unappreciative, and flawed fool who almost never votes for even the best of Republican Values,” Trump wrote.
