Beau Maxwell may only be a side character Off campus season 1, but already has fans in tears.
“I saw her and she started crying. Oh, Beau Maxwell,” one fan wrote on TikTok May 2026 after the release of season 1, to edit clips of Kobe Clarkeletter to Taylor SwiftThe soulful ballad “loml.”
One viewer tweeted, “I actually think they’re trying to hurt us emotionally by giving us more Beau scenes.”
A third social media user wrote about X and said, “They made me fall in love with Beau Maxwell so much on this show that they could kill him like this.

What is ‘Off Campus’ about?
Off campus originally a series of four hockey romance books written by Elle Kennedywhere four Briar University athletes find love in their own book. Season 1 of the Prime Video series, released in May 2026, wrote the first novel, A feastabout the love story of captain Garrett Graham and Hannah Wells.
Other books in this series include It’s a mistake (John Logan and Grace Ivers), School (Dean Heyward-Di Laurentis and Allie Hayes) and The goal (John Tucker and Sabrina James).
Kennedy has also written the following series, Briar U again Campus Diariesabout the next generation of integrated love stories.
What is Beau Maxwell’s Role in ‘Off Campus’?
Beau (played by Clarke) was introduced in season 1 as Garrett’s friend (Belmont Camel) and Dean (Stephen Kalyn), a soccer player who is often involved in group activities.
Like Clarke’s portrayal, Beau was Briar’s football star and best friend on the hockey team. He also became friends with Sabrina (Tucker’s eventual, unplayed love interest) throughout the series. In the book, Beau dies in Sabrina and Tucker’s story after a car crash.
Fans React to Beau Maxwell on ‘Off Campus’
As soon as the Prime Video series premiered, viewers were furious with Clarke’s character.
“I just started an off-campus show and yes I made a sad puppy noise when I realized Beau Maxwell was the one sitting next to Garrett in class,” one fan wrote on X, while another added, “He’s not even dead in the series. [in the first season] and I am crying.”
“I am very serious when I say that Beau’s death in this show will affect me more than in the books,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “Please Beau Maxwell, stay out of that f***ng car and keep your neck safe.”
What Elle Kennedy Said About Beau’s Expanded Screen Role
Off campus it has shown many changes from the book, including more snippets Beau.
“I mean, in season 1, we only get, I think, a little taste of Beau, but he does [fill] a little screen,” Kennedy said to himself Us Weekly ahead of the show’s premiere in May 2026. “I think Khobe, he’s the best and funniest actor ever. He’s had a lot of humor this season.”
According to Kennedy, fans will “fall in love” with Clarke’s beau before they “end up devastated” by his death.
Will Beau Maxwell return for season 2?
Main Video renewed Off campus for the second season months before the games start. It is not known which couple will lead, or if Beau will return.
Off campus season 1 is streaming now on Prime Video. Production on season 2 begins in June 2026.
