Cannon, who shares twins Monroe and Moroccan, now 15, with his ex-wife Mariah Careyhe was referring to his daughter’s words about her siblings in November 2025.
“I’m clearing something guys, I only have ONE brother @moroccan.cannon,” Monroe wrote on her Instagram Story. “I have other siblings from my father but they are all many years younger than me!”
Monroe and Moroccan are the only children Cannon and Carey share. However, Cannon is also father to 10 additional children, including Golden, 9, Powerful Queen, 5, and Rise Messiah, 3. Cannon explained to Sharpe that Monroe said she only had one sibling who was close to her in age.
“So my daughter wanted to fix it, to be like, ‘I only have one brother,’ like at her age,” he said.
Cannon shared that Monroe was “hurt” that the internet mishandled her message.
“The world intervened in some youth conversation and tried to make it something else,” he said. Then that upset my daughter, so she said, ‘I didn’t mean that, I meant that my father has other children.’
While comforting her daughter, she The Hidden Artist The manager gave him advice about posting on social media.
“I was like, ‘Monroe, you don’t have to explain yourself to anybody,'” he recalled. “‘But don’t let this be a lesson that you have to be very careful what you say on social media. People will take something very small and blow it up into something you can no longer control.’
Earlier this month, Cannon admitted that he is “protective” of Monroe as she reaches the age where she wants to start dating.
“I am very protective of my daughter because there is [are] there are things that I have to protect my daughter from,” she said during an appearance on the “TMZ Podcast” in May. “As we know, there are certain types of people that you want to keep your daughter away from.”
Cannon acknowledged the “double standard” he has made since allowing the Moroccan until now.
“First of all, it’s a double standard,” he shared. “And I know that I get into a lot of trouble because I talk about things in my chest. But there is a difference when you raise a son and you raise a daughter.”
