Team USA figure skater Alysa Liu she explained in detail about her makeup products and how she prepares her hands for competitions.
The 20-year-old Olympic gold medalist opened up about her favorite Rare Beauty gems while chatting with Popsugar in a TikTok clip posted on Tuesday, February 24. “I use a lot of Rare Beauty products,” she said of Selena Gomez’s brand, which she is rumored to be wearing at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy.
“If I could only choose one, it would be the Gel Liner,” said Liu.
When asked if she and other figure skaters have their own “glorious teams” at competitions, Liu cheerfully replied, “No!
When it comes to her DIY process, Liu explained that “before every competition,” she likes to “wash everything.”
“I have to use the Moisture Glide Venus Razor, I can’t forget that,” she said. “Obviously, grooming, makeup, hair and a good night’s sleep.”
Fans were shamed for liking Liu’s makeup in the comments section.
“Selena, please make her an ambassador or hire her to do more commercials!!” one wrote, and another added, “Uncommon beauty supported him best!” A third fan also commented, “ALYSSA BEAUTIFUL HEROES PLEASEEEEEEEEE.”
Liu’s revelation came after she went viral for using Rare Beauty’s Tinted Lip Oil Stain in the shade Muted Berry when she won gold in her free skate on February 19. Moments before walking to the podium, Liu could be heard saying, “Where’s my lipstick?” She then took her lip balm and swiped it over her pout before her best photo moment.
Gomez, 33, responded to the skater wearing her glitter on February 20. She retweeted a clip of Liu and wrote, “Congratulations @alysaxliu,” along with a heart hand emoji. “(You look like me fr),” added the singer.
This is not the first time Liu has gone public with her beauty. Earlier this month, she explained the meaning of her brunette-and-blonde streaked hair.
“I just wanted to be a tree,” he told the disabled athlete Haven Shepherd in the TikTok interview. “Three years ago, I made my first one [bleached band] and I thought, ‘Oh, next year, in the winter … I’ll do the second one,’ so I did. While Shepherd, 22, called her a “DIY girl,” Liu revealed that she originally did her own lashes. “To get this glow, I had to go to a salon,” added Liu. “I couldn’t get my hair up like this.
