Rudy Giuliani Doc Gives Health Update During Hospitalization

The former Mayor of New York City was hospitalized Rudy Giuliani he was visited by a priest who was to conduct the last rites before he was at his best, his doctor said.
“He is a hero – the way he was yesterday in a critical situation, the pastor came to anoint him,” Dr. Maria Ryan he told Fox News Monday, May 4. “And all the prayers from the surrounding areas are like a miracle. [nine] you live… today you are doing much better.”
On Sunday, May 3, news broke that Giuliani, 81, had been hospitalized in Florida and was in critical condition. On Monday, his spokesman, Ted Goodmanhe said the politician was being treated for pneumonia.
Ryan said Fox News On Monday, Giuliani experienced breathing difficulties after returning from a trip to Paris, which led to him being hospitalized and put on a ventilator. The doctor said Giuliani is breathing on his own now.
Goodman said Monday that Giuliani remains in critical but stable condition, citing long-term health issues dating back to his time as mayor of NYC during the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001.
In an X post on Monday, Goodman shared more details about Giuliani’s hospitalization, writing, “Mayor Rudy Giuliani is recovering from pneumonia. On September 11, Mayor Giuliani rushed to the towers to help those in need, resulting in a diagnosis of obstructive pulmonary disease.”

“This condition adds complications to any respiratory illness, and the virus quickly overwhelmed his body, requiring a small amount of ventilation to maintain adequate ventilation and stabilize his condition,” Goodman wrote.
“He is now breathing on his own, with his family and primary health care provider by his side,” Giuliani’s spokesman said. “Mayor Giuliani is the ultimate fighter – as he has shown throughout his life – and he is winning this battle.
“His family greatly appreciates the outpouring of love and support. The mayor believes in the power of prayer, and we feel that power today,” Goodman added.
Giuliani’s latest health disability follows his involvement in a car accident in Manchester, New Hampshire, in August 2025. The former mayor was a passenger in a car that was rear-ended by another car.
“He was found to have a broken thoracic spine, multiple bruises and contusions, as well as injuries to his left arm and lower leg,” his bodyguard, Michael Ragusasaid a statement at the time.
Giuliani was elected mayor of New York City in 1993 and gained worldwide attention for his response to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.
