Kate Cassidy she’s back on the dating scene 18 months after her boyfriend Liam PayneUnexpected death.
The 27-year-old promoter took to Instagram on Monday, April 27, to share a “Get Ready With Me” video as she prepares to go on the first date. She explained that she met the man through two of her friends, adding that he was “always interested” in her, but she wasn’t sure if he felt the same way.
“This is very new to me,” he continued. “I’m just in the headspace where I’m down to give anybody a chance.”
Cassidy shared that she and her date planned to have dinner at a local bar, noting that he offered to order her an Uber ride to the restaurant, which she thought was “really important.”
“I feel really happy, to be honest,” Cassidy concluded.
Cassidy’s dating milestone comes more than a year after Payne died at age 31 after falling from the third-floor balcony of the CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in October 2024. Cassidy had been on vacation with the One Direction singer at the time, returning home to the United States days before his death. The actor later opened up about his regrets for leaving the country so soon.
“Love is very optimistic, and he hopes that everything will be fine in the end. Obviously, if I had known, if I could see the future, I would not have left Argentina,” he told the SUN in February 2025. “I never thought that this would happen, that it would happen the way it did. I still don’t feel completely real that he is not there.”
Cassidy paid tribute to Payne on the one year anniversary of his death with a series of black and white photos of the couple during their relationship.

“Today, you haven’t been here for a whole year,” he wrote in the caption. “I will hate you forever. I miss you Liam.”
Months later, Cassidy shared a Friday, April 24 TikTok video in which she felt “ready to start dating again.”
“I think love after loss is a big chapter in your journey of grief and I don’t know what that’s going to feel like,” she explained. “But what I do know is that I loved being in love. I want to have kids one day. I want to have a family, and I know Liam would want that for me, and if the roles were reversed, I would want him to be happy and fall in love again.”
Cassidy added that she will “always love” Payne.
“That will never change, no matter who I meet and who comes into my life,” said the content creator, exasperated. “Maybe I will – I mean maybe, I’ll think about Liam on my wedding day. I’ll think about him every day for the rest of my life, and that goes without saying.”
