Two women in Texas have been arrested after they allegedly disguised drones to look like birds and tried to fly contraband into the Grant Parish jail.
The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office said Melanie Jean Worthington again Kassy Marie Cole he used a drone to fly plastic bags full of contraband, according to a Facebook post shared by the department.
Both women said they were paid $40,000 to smuggle the goods into the prison, according to police. However, it is not clear whether they told the authorities who paid them or why they were assigned the job.
Officials say the ravens were allegedly loaded with drugs, cellphones and cigarettes, according to the statement.
Worthington, 38, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and transporting contraband to a correctional facility.
Meanwhile, Cole, 41, was arrested for possession of synthetic marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and taking illegal items to a correctional facility and an outstanding warrant at the time of his arrest. It is not clear what incident the outstanding warrant was for.
It is not yet clear whether Worthington or Cole have filed pleas or retained legal representation following their arrests.
The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond Us WeeklyRequest for comment regarding any case updates.
Believe it or not, the recent arrests of Worthington and Cole mark the ninth and 10th arrests of drug-trafficking suspects at the federal prison in Grant Parish since early 2026, according to KALB. The last two men who tried to smuggle contraband into the prison used a cannon to shoot metal and tobacco over the walls of the prison.
In addition to sharing both Worthington and Cole’s mug shots, police also uploaded a photo of the fake crow to Facebook. The black crow had a beak and a face, while it was covered with tape.
It is not yet clear how authorities spotted the fake crows or connected Worthington and Cole to the scheme.
While reflecting on the crime, Grant Parish Sheriff Steven McCain told the media that the crime was “admirably done” but “didn’t work,” according to the Louisiana Radio Network.
McCain went on to say that when the authorities searched for Worthington and Cole, they also found plastic crows that they linked to this case.

“It’s just amazing, the ideas they come up with. But there is so much money involved that people are willing to continue taking the opportunity to not get caught,” he said.
After the Police Department revealed this about the arrest of these, a number of people took to Facebook to analyze the situation. “Are we flying birds now? lol maybe they should try an armadillo!” one wrote while poking fun at the show, and another person jokingly asked, “Is that a real bird, my only question?”
