Karamo Brown ready to open up about his filming experience The Queer Eye at his Fab Five expense.
In a new interview, Brown, 45, described a workplace filled with allegations of harassment and misconduct.
“Everybody was just saying, ‘Well, that’s just the person,’ instead of, ‘This behavior doesn’t fly in a professional environment,'” Brown said. People in an interview published on Tuesday, June 2. “It had a negative impact on me, consistently.”
Brown suspects that the original cast of the Netflix series, which includes Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, Antoni Porowski again Bobby Berkbegan to fall apart after she was sued for harassment in the first few weeks of filming.
In a recent interview, Brown said that he and one of the Fab Five members – who he declined to identify publicly – had a “sweet and loving” relationship during the show’s run.
Brown initially blamed his costar for filing the complaint, but later learned that an unknown third party was responsible. (Brown says he has been cleared of any wrongdoing.)
“It broke us,” he said. “We all knew the difference between us.”
Brown also recalled an unnamed senior leader bluntly telling him, “You’re not a star. I’m going to finish you tomorrow.”
“I was depressed,” Brown — described as a “culture and lifestyle expert” — shared. “It was disappointing because I was teaching people to be better, but in my life I was trapped.”

In a statement to People, The Queer EyeProduction company ITV America and Scout Productions said, “We strongly disagree with any of the troubling portrayals presented during the production.” The Queer Eye they were ignored, dismissed or allowed to go unchallenged. Throughout the series, any issues brought to the production leadership were considered important and dealt with appropriately.”
The statement continued, “The production has always fostered a respectful and professional environment for cast and crew – including ongoing training, coaching and other support for actors – to maintain clear workplace policies and procedures during filming. We remain incredibly proud Queer Eye’s the lasting impact and community the series has helped build for over 20 years. “
Brown surprised fans in January when he walked out of all media appearances at No. 10 the final season of the show.

“I hope everyone remembers the main theme I’ve tried to teach them over the last ten years, which is to focus and protect their mental health/peace from people or the world that wants to destroy it, which is why I won’t be there today,” Brown said in a statement at the time.
Nearly six months later, Brown is happy to report that he is in a much better place.
“I did a complete 180 in my life,” he said People. “This new chapter feels safe and it feels successful because it’s been a year and a half of real work for me.”
