Shaquille O’Neal Talks About DM’ing Sabrina Carpenter

“First of all, ladies, diesel got a lot more play than that,” O’Neal, 54, said on Friday, March 20, episode of his show “Big Podcast”, reading aloud fake news. “I’m just saying.”
Images on social media surfaced earlier this month of several NSFW messages sent to Carpenter, 26, from an Instagram account that appears to belong to O’Neal.
“Wow, baby, I was going to keep your farts in a cologne bottle and spray on myself every day,” the retired basketball star read aloud, citing the alleged messages. Just kidding, I’m Shaq. What’s your name, and Sabrina says, ‘I know who you are. You are too famous to send such messages.’
O’Neal allegedly replied, “I can’t pass out and I want one of those snow bunnies for no reason. You can’t handle a big diesel anyway.”
O’Neal then admitted that his photoshopped image was added to the message which appeared to be created by AI.
O’Neal’s podcast guest, Jim Joneshe also noted that social media is a “dangerous place.”
“It’s crazy that people spend their energy and time on it,” said Jones, 49. “I think they’ll have better things to do.”
According to O’Neal, “youth” seems to be “so [all] about the algorithm and the viral.”
“Social media is a great way for you to gain business and be able to market and promote your business,” said Jones. “That’s what I use it for, everyone has their own methods and systems they use on social media. I use it for music, I use it for my content. [and] I use it in everything I do.”
Jones also said that “social media exists for entertainment.”
“No matter what happens today, it won’t last three days,” he said. “If you feel like social media is working for you, it has never worked against you. You have to figure out how to make it work for you or work against you because now you have millions of eyes on you.”
Neither O’Neal nor Carpenter have continued to talk about the fake text conversation.
O’Neal, on the other hand, was previously married to her Shaunie Wilson from 2002 to 2011. O’Neal and Wilson share five children. (O’Neal is also father to daughter Taahirah from a previous relationship Arnetta Yardbourgh.)
In the years since her divorce, O’Neal has sparked dating rumors with many famous people. After being spotted with the creator of OnlyFans Sophie Rain on his 21st birthday, the NBA alum denied claims of a budding romance.
“I don’t want to [date] that you are young but I will date your mother and give you my brother,” she said he wrote in an Instagram comment in October 2025 after a social media user questioned the couple’s huge age gap.
Rain also shut down speculation in a statement shared with it Us Weekly.
“He came to me after that and it was like we’re famous, famous, haha, I don’t know why people think we’re dating,” Rain said exclusively.
