Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., suddenly found himself on the receiving end of a budget hearing on Wednesday when, amid allegations of “corruption” by the Trump administration, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was fired for bringing Wyden’s son’s investment into trading.

“We’d like to hear what Adam Wyden and Jeffrey Epstein talked about,” Bessent said, referring to the emails that were discovered revealing communications between the congressman’s son and the disgraced financier.

“Did your son and Jeffrey Epstein talk about pole dancing while begging for money?”

The moment continues the political collapse of many names associated with Epstein who – despite not reaching proof of guilt – continue to cause embarrassment and shame even when the least is said.

Epstein, a former financier, died while in prison on child sex trafficking charges in 2019, leaving questions about whether he facilitated illicit sex for his vast network of the rich and powerful.

Amid public demands for more transparency on the matter, the Justice Department released a series of subpoenas on Epstein late last year, revealing dozens of new names with all kinds of ties to the unknown from the innocent to the terrifying.

Among them, emails emerged showing that Adam Wyden, Ron Wyden’s son, approached Epstein, hoping to get his business support.

“Jeffrey, I wanted to thank you for taking the time to meet with me. I really enjoyed our conversation and I hope that my love and dedication to my business came through in the meeting. I live and breathe this business and I take my recovery, integrity and dignity seriously,” the younger Wyden said in an email in April 2016.

“I am very grateful to like-minded people and I would very much like you to join us in this fund.”

The emails came after Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting a child for prostitution in Florida in 2008.

It is unclear what business Adam Wyden and Epstein discussed or what, specifically, was discussed in their conversations.

Still, Bessent reminded viewers that the younger Wyden has a history of investing in shady markets at Wednesday’s hearing.

Your son’s biggest investment position has been Rick’s Cabaret,” Bessent said, referring to the strip club chain.

Wyden, who has heavily criticized the Trump administration and many of its officials for their ties to Epstein, did not respond to Bessent’s comments.
