San Francisco diesel prices are $8 a gallon higher, the first of any US city

Prime Capital Financial Chairman and Managing Partner Scott Colangelo breaks down his best market outlook on ‘Varney & Co.’
For the first time on record, diesel prices in San Francisco have surpassed $8 per gallon, according to new data from GasBuddy—marking a milestone never seen in any American city.
The jump comes as the war with Iran pushes up oil prices around the world, underscoring the volatility of fuel markets and how factors specific to California—such as strict regulations, high taxes and limited supply—can drive prices above the national average.
San Francisco has long had the highest gas prices in the country, but breaking the $8 threshold for diesel represents a new benchmark—even for a state accustomed to high gas prices.

Diesel, which dominates many of the country’s freight, transportation and public transport systems, is highly sensitive to capacity depletion and disruptions in global supply.
The eruption is expected to extend beyond the Bay Area. Higher diesel costs often translate into higher costs of travel and transportation, which can increase the prices of goods and services across the country.
Meanwhile, gasoline prices are rising in almost every state, with some states already above the national average.
As of April 5, the national average for regular gasoline stood at $4.11 per gallon, according to AAA — up 86 cents from last month. On the West Coast, drivers are seeing the highest costs, with prices reaching $5.92 per gallon in California and $5.37 in Washington.

In the Midwest, Illinois tops out at $4.29 per gallon, while most of the region remains in the $3 range. Southern countries remain generally cheaper, although prices are rising. Texas averaged $3.82 and South Carolina $3.82, while Florida was the highest at $4.20.

“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all rolled into one, in Iran,” Trump said. post read. “There will be no such thing!!!”
“Open the F—– Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in hell – JUST WATCH!” read Trump’s message to Iran’s leaders. “Praise be to Allah.”
While prices may drop in the coming weeks, the milestone shows how vulnerable fuel markets are to delivering shocks—and how quickly costs can rise to historic levels.
