Neve Campbell Goes Full on Die Hard in His Explosive, Big-Budget Thriller

Neve Campbell is best known for the Scream franchise, in which she plays the ultimate immortal girl Syndney Prescott-Evans. Although that character was a huge success for him, it wasn’t his breakout role, as he was already well-known in the popular drama. Party of Five and a youth film Art. He retired from his job in 2011 after acting Shout out 4appearing only in a few TV movies and episodes rather than major projects, until he returned to television full time House of Cards in 2016. His return to the big screen wasn’t the movie Scream, either: it was A skyscraperis a 2018 action disaster film starring Dwayne Johnson.
The Influences Are Obvious, But It Keeps Its Own Identity
If you take all the parts best of The wonderful Inferno, Die Hardagain Mother is coming backand mix them all, what results is that this action car was really meant for The Rock, but it gave Campbell the assurance of an action hero as well. They play a married couple Will and Sarah Sawyer, who meet when Will loses his leg in an encounter and Sarah is an army medic who treats him. After 10 years, they are married with two children and a successful security consulting business hired to review a high-tech building in Hong Kong called the Pearl. Will, Sarah, and their two children leave to fulfill the contract and live in the building for now.
When terrorists try to take control of the building’s technical systems to obtain sensitive data about an organized crime organization, Will goes to hell and back to rescue them. That includes destroying a burning building, fighting terrorists, and avoiding the police thinking you are the mastermind behind the attack. Will he survive and free his family? Will the terrorists get what they came for? Where was there ever enough duct tape in the world?
Action Based on Its Characters
The reason I threw Mother is coming back with two movies that point to big buildings threatened by fire and criminals this movie is really a family movie. Campbell and Johnson work well together as a couple A skyscraperand they are obviously good parents to their children. When the going gets tough, Sara is as strong as her husband, if not stronger, and exactly the kind of woman he would believably marry. He is not a woman. Terrorists who are able to defeat them with a good judo throw, must disable them first. He doesn’t beat big people, instead he uses his mind and strength against them. Johnson is devoted as a father, reminiscent of the old traveling couple of Rick and Evie O’Connell.
But the movie is about Will and his struggles to reach his family. The way he plays The Rock is dictated by his character’s disability, which has never made us forget the actor by playing the actor to jump on one leg if the actor is not wearing his own. He’s vulnerable, but in a way that doesn’t diminish him as a man. He is neither submissive nor cowardly, especially when it comes to his family. The Rock melts into the role, and sometimes you forget that you’re watching the famous champion and not his character.
If there’s a problem with this movie, it’s that Will is sometimes super strong, doing things no one else can do, even with two legs. Some of his stunts are unbelievable and clearly CGI, but if you roll your eyes and go through these scenes, the action and chemistry between the characters delivers. Wandering through a burning, collapsing building, the danger stems from the situation itself rather than the bad guys, giving both Johnson and Campbell plenty of space for non-violent heroes. The film leaves the violence to the terrorists.
Campbell’s return to the big screen met with mediocre ratings, but the movie shows her evolution and growth as an actress from adult to action mom. It’s the perfect popcorn for the whole family to enjoy together without too much to hide from the kids’ eyes. A few people get shot or blown up, but the carnage is mostly contained and not bad.
