Celebrating the One Year Anniversary of Beyond the Gates and Ashley’s Career Milestone
Wednesday, February 25—a quick note, though, if you didn’t know—Beyond the Gates celebrated its one year anniversary on Tuesday, February 24th. Man, what a year! I expect they’ll need a U-Haul to collect the Emmys they’ll win in daylight at the next awards ceremony. I think they might sweep or just clean.
Also, it’s a busy day for Ashley Morgan (Jen Jacob) as she celebrates her first birthday Garland Memorial. He and Chenise Valjean (Tiara Wilkins) talk about the past year and everything that happened. Speaking of Ashley’s last year, her ex, Derek Baldwin (Ben Gavin), also gets screen time as he makes a decision about what to do with a career now that his time as a firefighter is over.
Derek’s New Career Path and Leslie’s Clinic Power Plays on BTG
I wonder if Leslie will end up hiring Derek. If so, I wish him so much grace. Relatedly, Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle) is upset with Leslie, who sneers at the clinic and tells Eva that she will show her how to do real business. Leslie says, “Watch and learn.” We know she and Derek are getting into it. This may be when Leslie and Derek can patch things up and decide if they can work together.
Beyond the Gates Robbers: Jacob’s Undertaker Crisis – Will Isaiah Blow His Big Brother’s Cover?
Jacob Hawthorne (Jibre Hordges) goes deeper and deeper underground. He is now embedded with the people of the red plasma market, but then he meets his younger brother, Izaiah Hawthorne (David Lami Friebe), while on the job. Jacob’s cover can be blown. He asks why Izaya went out to the corner of the evil city, and Izaya tells his big brother that he can ask him the same.
Cat and Tomas Face Relationship Struggles with Life Arrangements on BTG
Katherine “Kat” Richardson (Colby Muhammad) wants to know if she can stay permanently after Tomas “Tom” Navarro (Alex Alegria) says Kat can come to his place whenever she wants. Kat wants to know if Thomas still wants to live together. If you remember, he asked Kat to move out about four months ago, back in December, but she told Thomas, “No, it’s too soon.”
This time, he seems upset. She wants to know Kat’s motives, and it seems that Thomas might tell her no. He wants Kat to choose him, not by default or as a second choice because Chelsea Hamilton (RhonniRose Mantilla) is moving out to live with her boyfriend and Kat doesn’t want to crash alone at her Aunt Dani Dupree’s (Karla Mosley) guest house.
Thursday Beyond the Gates Spoilers: Mysterious Visitors and Leslie’s Self-Promotion
On Thursday, February 26, “no” from Tomas may be why Kat is suddenly very focused and talking about Laura Peterson’s (Destiny Love) car accident that almost killed her almost a year ago. Leslie avoided any consequences for it, which is unfair. Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne (Arielle Prepetit) walks in with Ashley and updates her on Jacob’s exit. Will Naomi say that Jacob is a secret and that’s why he did it, or will Naomi be hidden because of any possible danger?
Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman) and Dani Dupree have a guest they didn’t expect and didn’t want to see. It could be Leslie or it could be Hayley Lawson (Marquita Goings). Meanwhile, Leslie engages in some self-promotion. You are showing something. Now, it could be about his new clinic he’s funding or some other craziness. I could definitely see Leslie trying to cover up the attention Anita got because of her cancer.
Anita’s Brave Cancer Journey Rocks DMV After Gayle King Interview
Speaking of which, Gayle King’s conversation with Anita energized the entire DMV. We will be getting a lot more awareness about breast cancer as this goes on, which is great. To realize that is amazing. I wonder if Anastasia (Timeca M. Seretti) will be less sympathetic since she was one of the people who spread the rumor that Anita was drinking at the club when she was actually suffering from chemo. I wonder if Leslie will try to get close to Anita to get rid of that residual care because she’s just awful.
Friday BTG Drama: Cat Clash and Vanessa’s Dating Plan Trouble
On Friday, February 27, Kat escalated a nasty confrontation with Eva and Leslie. Kat may be upset with Tomas and attack Eva, but it’s clear that they both live free in Kat’s head. I’m hoping that eventually she and Eva will have a real bond as sisters, but it seems unlikely—especially as long as Leslie is around.
Chelsea has a bloup with a cousin. My money is on Kat and not Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon) because Kat is on the air. In fact, he is so angry that Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnee Duplaix) and Dr. Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson) is very worried about their daughter. Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli) tries to impress Nicole. I wonder if this is about Anita’s interview and all the attention and stress that came with it, but it was inevitable.
It is a paradox; I noticed that Vanessa was defending her escort app from Nicole, who was horrified at the idea that she would be checking out Samantha Richardson’s (Najah Jackson) date there. Then ironically, Vanessa’s daughter met a date from Heart Paste operating system. That whole scene he had with Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) was a wisecrack: “Do as I say, not as I do.”
Mysterious Encounters and Smitty’s Pursuit of the Plasma Ring
Izaya is asked to meet someone and it surprises him. Maybe it’s his father, Police Chief Elon Hawthorne (Malaki Malik), who isn’t exactly a fan of his son. Or maybe it’s tied to a plasma case because Izaya has a background in shady DMV continuity. Bradley “Smitty” Smith (Mike Manning) meets an old friend, and I wonder if this might be connected to him in the plasma case.
Looking Forward to March 2: Anita’s CBS Morning Aftershocks On Beyond the Gates
The week of March 2nd to the 6th, we expect many more vibrations from Anita’s wonderful thing. The CBS Morning Show the announcement about his cancer, the stage it is in, and how scary everything is. I thought the interview part was very well done. It was perfect. I thought I was watching a real episode The CBS Morning Show. Residents do things that well in soaps.
I expect Leslie to bring flowers, a plant, and fake sympathy. I hope he doesn’t say a word of wisdom about Anita being the second speaker to lose her life since her mother, Barbara, was the first to die. And I hope Leslie makes everything worse for Anita when she says she’s trying not to.
The Perils of Underworld and Hunting for Justice in the Red Market
Smitty and Jacob may both be in danger by doing this red market plasma stabbing. I wonder if we know anyone connected to this ring. I hope Joey isn’t, but you never know either. Lynette Wise (Domini Madison) feels great about her disguise targeting that poor homeless man Joey paid off and chased away, but she smells a rat.
I suspect Joey will find out that Lynette and Hayley are cahoots. I also expect Joey to confront Randy Parker (Maurice P. Kerry) about the false suspect, but he may keep Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) in the dark. Joey might just tell him that people jump bail all the time. The problem is that Bill is still seeking justice because the suspect disappeared from the DMV.
Final Spoilers: Vernon’s Protection and Cat’s Growing Frustration in BTG
Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) does everything he can to protect Anita as her big secret is out and there are many eyes on them. Meanwhile, Hayley thinks she’s failed at everything, but I doubt it. The bottom line is that Lynette won’t go and take her hand out of Hayley Lawson’s purse. They have to do something about that girl.
Kat’s frustration grows and I wonder if the family will join in the anger. Will Tomas circle around Kat and tell her that yes, he wants her in? Randy is on edge and hopes the stalking is over, but Joey is likely to dig deeper into him. We’ll have to wait and see if Derek gets to work with Leslie at his clinic.
